Mister Miracle Vs. Doctor Doom

I am hoping that Mister Miracle will be the focal point of the New Gods film that is currently in the planning stages.  He is easily my favorite of all of Kirby's Fourth World characters, and the escape artist aspect will certainly make for some exciting action sequences.  Keeping his colorful costume is a must - between his showmanship on Earth and the otherworldly tech of Apokolips, there's no reason not to use it.

Given how Steppenwolf looked, I have no expectations that any of the DCEU New Gods will visually resemble their comic book counterparts.

I just hope they include Thaddeus Brown and Shiloh Norman, in that movie, as well.

This is a nice match up Ross. Keen art too.

I would love to see Mr. Miracle with his own flick... why not? His story is engaging, the characters are strong and vibrant (even if Lanie Kazan is a little old to play Barda any more... :), and the backstory is easily enough to spin off, or be spun off from.

But have you seen the DC movies? Colorful costumes just aren't the thing. They excel in DRAB. Drab, dull, gloomy and grim colors. How on Earth do you make Superman look bland?!?!? So I hope you're right; I hope they take the hint. But if they made Wonder Woman bland, I can't hold out much hope.

I wouldn't hold out much hope for the costume, either, as most people's first impression will be "Mexican Wrestler" rather than "God of Escapes".

The costuming plans for Marvel and DC films do seem to be quite different. With Marvel, the idea tends to be, "How can we make the look from the comics work on the screen?" With DC, it's more like, "How can we make this look cool while still resembling what's in the comics?" (To be fair, the Arrowverse designers do seem closer to the former line of thought than the latter, at least generally.) Still, at least acknowledging Mister Miracle's show-biz connections and keeping the general design of his costume, including (and possibly even playing up) the garish colors, would seem sensible. And, acknowledging Jay's comment, they could even make reference to his resemblance to a luchador.

All that said, I wouldn't expect him to be the focus of a New Gods film. More likely, it would focus on Darkseid, the Highfather, and the exchange of sons, with Scott Free as a supporting player at best.

On the other hand, Mister Miracle would be a great focus for a TV show, probably set on one of the Arrowverse's alternate Earths, with Fourth World elements popping up quite frequently.

Doom may need to wait; Darkseid is a bit preoccupied right now...

These two actually have some interesting sartorial overlap. How common are green capes, after all?

@Dr. OTR: well, there's Mr. Hyde (one of Daredevil's regularly recurring foes). Plus, the Caucasian Baron Mordo (the arch-enemy of Silver Age Dr. Strange). While, over at DC, the Golden Age Dr. Midnite wore one, I'm pretty sure. I know the Spectre definitely did!* Then, there was Lyta Lal, Silver Age Superman's old flame (from a world with an orange main sequence sun).

Anyone else I might have missed, guys? :-)

*The Golden Age GL's cape was more like purple with a green lining.
