Doctor Fate and Shaman

So who owns the cinematic rights to the members of Alpha Flight?  Marvel is going to be looking for more heroes to spotlight in their Phase Three move [plans, so they would be a natural choice.  Then again, they began as a spin off from a story in Uncanny X-Men, so maybe they are part of the property that Fox holds - in which case I wonder why they haven't used them yet.  Hopefully some studio will eventually bring them to the big screen.

They sort of did use Alpha Flight. in Wolverine Origins, the kindly old couple were James and Heather Hudson. You just didn't know that unless you saw the credits.

Who owns what is confusing. Black Panther and the Inhumans are spin-offs from the Fantastic Four, but they are part of the MCU. Maybe we could have two Alpha Flights like there were two Quicksilvers.

Maybe Shaman could meet Aztek.

As I recall, Guardian was never really dead. Just temporally displaced among a group of Shuma-Gorath's gentler & kinder distant relatives.

@Cary: I believe they were called the Qwrlln.

I question whether there is enough interest for an Alpha Flight film production despite some excellent character design but I am sure Canada would give a discount for making movie there. Part of way new characters are introduced are via conflicts and team ups and there is no room for that in current Marvel Movie Universe plans.

Not bad! How about Luke Skywalker meets Team Gatchaman? You could call it...

"May G-Force Be With You."

@Anon: Let's not...and not even say that we did.

I would LOVE an Alpha Flight movie. Perhaps the original 6 (Guardian, Shaman, Sasquatch, Snowbird, Aurora & Northstar) on a big mission, where they get help from Marrina and Puck along the way, and then induct them as members?

I agree there probably isn't enough current interest for an Alpha Flight movie, but they would be perfect for an 8 or 10 episode arc of the Avengers animated show (as rivals then partners), which could help drum up some interest.

The Qwrlln were a fabrication in a phony story a disguised Courtney (of Omega Flight) to explain the (revealed to be killed) Guardian's absence.

@my namesake: more like adapted than fabricated. The impostor having somehow divined that actually occurring to the time-lost Hudson!

I agree that there probably isn't enough interest in Alpha Flight to warrant a film or even a guest appearance somewhere. However, I also assumed that I would be one of a very few who would bother going to see Guardians of the Galaxy, and look how that turned out!

To the original anonymous: That was actually Heather and Travis Hudson in that movie, for some reason.

That Fox / Disney deal seems to be on again, and I'd like to echo what The Silver Disney above me... Silver Fox, sorry... said: there wasn't any demand for Guardians either, and this movie only needs one!

Maybe A.F. could appear as cameo guest-stars in a Deadpool sequel?*

*Entitled something along the politically incorrect lines of "DEADPOOL 3: Saving Canada's Bacon."

As long as they don't cast a tall guy as Puck, I'm happy with the prospects of a movie or series.

Well, they could play the camera tricks they did with the dwarfs in the Hobbit / LOTR movies. I think Dwayne Johnson would be hilarious as Puck.

But wasn't there a canonical story, back in the '80s or very early '90s, explaining that Puck was originally tall & got shrunk by magic?

@Simreeve: in the immortal words of Fonzie? "Exact-a-mundo!"

@Simreeve--Yes. When he was an explorer he found the Black Blade and the curse that came with it. To contain the curse he absorbed the sword into himself and the result was his dwarfism. It also apparently kept him young because when the curse escaped he aged rapidly as well as returning to his natural height. in the story he reabsorbed the sword and the curse making him a dwarf again and making him young again. I am not sure that is still in continuity or not I though it got changed or ignored later on.
