Sgt. Rock Vs. Cobra Commander
With the popularity of the G.I. Joe line, I wonder why DC never tried to get in on the action with Sgt. Rock and Easy Company or some of their other war heroes. There were the Mego DC action figures and later on the Super-Powers toys - it would have been cool to see Frank Rock included.

There was a Remco line of Sgt Rock figures around the time of G I Joe and Super Powers. Not great, but they were there.
There was a plan back in the 1980s to do a Sgt Rock film with Arnold Schwarzenegger, but that dies in turnaround. Had that happened, there could well have been a line of figures to come out on that film, so we came close, a little...
It would be real, er, easy to work Sgt. Rock into an episode of "Legends". I never knew that the character's first name was Frank. I actually had an uncle named Frank Rock
Remco did the smaller figure line and later hasbro did 12" figures under the G.I, Joe label - Rock, Bulldozer, Little Sure Shot, Jackie Johnson, and Wildman. Easy to find images on the web.
Great cover!
There was also the original Capt. Action line of toys (from Mattel, I think). And if he had no trouble occasionally posing as Sgt. Nick Fury, or one of the World's Finest Duo, I don't see why Sgt. Rock should've been excluded.
So you'd give a child the toy, and he'd "play a old time Rock role".
I never owned (or say) any of the Sgt Rock toys, but I see ads for them all the time in DC Comics circa 1980/81.
G.I. Joe did limited edition 11" action figures of several DC war characters including Sgt. Rock and the battle-happy Joe's of Easy Company including Bulldozer, Wildman, Jackie Johnson and Little Sure Shot. They also did 11" limited editions of Blackhawk, Enemy Ace, Mademoiselle Marie and even Miss Fear....
You should be able to find most of these on Ebay if you're interested in how they look.
You could also argue that the whole Sgt. Savage set was a "tribute" to both Rock and Sgt. Fury. In fact, before the revival of G.I.Joe in the 1980s, Marvel wanted to do a Nick Fury cartoon series.
@ the Anon who preceded Doc: GOOD ONE! :-D
Major shout out to Super Team family. They’re killing it with these covers. Absolutely amazing 🤩
