Red Tornado and ROM in "Sleeper Code!"

I am glad to see that ROM is finally returned to comics with his new home at IDW.  I always thought is was such a shame that he remained in comic book limbo for so long. I like the modern update to his design as well, I'll miss being able to poke fun at his metallic mittens, though.

Red Tornado and ROM first crossed paths in STF #432...

Red Tornado tells YJ that he has files on every superhero... "nineteen on Hawkman alone".

I was a big fan of the Marvel version of Rom. I think it's too bad that Marvel never bothered to buy the rights to the character outright (or maybe they tried and were not successful). I always thought it was interesting that such a good comic book could result from what was basically a failed action figure.

Say, there's an idea for a cover... licensed properties that Marvel used to have the rights to that are now being done by other companies. I can see it now... Rom, the Micronauts, Conan the Barbarian, Indiana Jones and G.I. Joe vs. Godzilla. I know Marvel has handled a lot more licensed characters, but I'm trying to stick to the more successful and long-lasting adaptations.

I'm with Sonofjack about the Marvel version of Rom. The Dire Wraiths being an occultist offshoot of the Skrull Deviants was brilliant! It makes me wonder (should Marvel and DC ever do this crossover for real) if T.O. Morrow got _assimilated_ by a Dire Wraith.*

*As a way of accessing the old Tornado Tyrant of Rann.

the new ROM series sucks the updated design they gave him is so wrong it looks like it came out of an 80s Japanese cartoon.
