Reverse Flash Vs. Venom
I really enjoy The Flash on the CW, but I hope they aren't going to repeat themselves too much. The "big bad" of the first season was The Reverse Flash, and for season two it was Zoom. Now in the third season we have Savitar, Kid Flash, Jay Garrick, Rival, and Jesse Quick to look forward to. Don't get me wrong, that all sounds fun - but we have seen a lot of speedster vs. speedster action on the show thus far and I would like to see some more variety in friends and foes. Lets see appearances by Mirror Master, Dr. Alchemy, Kilg%re, and Ralph Dibny this year!
Let's hope that these two villains can sort out their differences before the next meeting of their team, The Doppel Gang...

Well we will be seeing Mirror Master, that was pretty much confirmed as he was the final member of the Rogues not to be introduced. Also, Reverse Flash and Captain Cold are part of the Legion of Doom over on Legends of Tomorrow this year so they shouldn't be in the Flash too much if not at all. Reverse Flash is being played by the actor before he took Harrison's identity. Also Captain Cold's actor renewed his contract and instead of being on the Flash and Legends of Tomorrow his contract allows him to crossover onto everything from Flash to Arrow, to Legends and now Supergirl.
@Ross:
Cool! Really looks like a single cover!
Another pairing I've been thinking about recently: have you ever pit the Young Avengers against Young Justice? Both "Young" versions of big ensemble teams in the respective universes who have a robot mentor (Vision II/Red Tornado)…
Thanks! Not a bad idea, although I am not too familiar with The Young Avengers
It looks like Season 3 is going to be a tele-version of the relatively recent "Flashpoint" story line from DC.* Or, to put it another way: similar to the altered time-line seasons of Syfy Channel's EUREKA! So, we--the viewing audience--will have to wait and see how this will affect Barry Allen's life.**
*Has it been ten years, already?
** For instance: will his parents stay married till death-from-old-age do them part? Or will they get divorced? And what about Supergirl's world? Does she still reside on a parallel-but-separate Earth? Or has this change in Allen family history made their worlds--quite literally-- one?
P.S.---I like to think that Axel Ashford brought these two, together. Maybe as part of a game of chess with the Grandmaster of the Universe!*
But, not until after Venom had partaken of Speed Demon or even (God forbid!) QuickSilver.
Nice cover, but I have always felt that VENOM and CARNAGE (Marvel is stealing heavy metal band names for their characters by the way) are very overrated SPIDER-MAN villains.
I much prefer classic characters like TARANTULA, VULTURE, and GREEN GOBLIN.
Ross, when I was reading comics more regularly, Reverse Flash was the another name for Professor Zoom (Eobard Thawne, our however it's spelled). Did they change that for TV, or was it changed first in the comics? Nice cover, though.
Until I read Cary's comment, I wondered how in Areinnye Venom would have any chance against R-Flash.
i have a great idea for you. how about batman 66. meets spider-man 67'

It was in the comics: They brought in a new 'Zoom' there, a native of the present day 21st century (and former friend of Wally West, before the incident that empowered him...), possibly during a period when Eobard was dead. When he later returned and found out about this, Eobard himself was rather amused: "I've inspired a legacy five hundred years before I was even born: It's in reverse!"
^_^
Anonymous - click on the "Photo Cover" label to see Batman 66 and Spidey together
@Ross: I think my namesake was referring to the Grantray-and-Krantz-animated Spidey. The cartoon which featured some of the same voices immortalized by Rankin & Bass' Rudolph!
@ Kid Charlemagne: I thought that a legitimate concern, as well. I mean; let's face it! Coming from the 25th century, like he does, the Reverse-Flash would most likely already know Venom's two biggest weaknesses: high-frequency sound and fire. So, without some kind of super-speed of his own, Venom would fold up like a sack of wet manure the first time R-F literally ran rings around him fast enough to create a sonic boom!
The second time would probably involve friction-ignited gasoline poured over Venom.
@Wolfhammer: maybe Ross could split the difference, for you, and illustrate a Venomized Vulture?
where is the photo cover label?...don't see it....lol....not to be dumb or anything....
In the giant label section on the left side of this blog, between Phoney Bone and Photon,
Nice
Given that they haven't convened a meeting in close to seven years, I'd say that the Doppel Gang has permanently disbanded.
