Hawkman and The Angel

It's too bad the because of the wonky continuity we will never see The Angel in a true X-Men: First Class movie with the original team.  I  figured we would have to wait for an inevitable reboot, but considering the success of the last X-movie installment that may be a long way off.  Hawkman has gone quite a revamping looks-wise in the New DCU - I assume that like most of the costume changes DC did it was with an eye towards making live action adaptations easier.  The new helmet, like the old one, looks cool but not every artist can depict it effectively.  I do think it might translate better to live action, but I would still miss the classic look.

This is a beautiful cover. I prefer all your painted matte mash-ups above all the others.

Didn't that mace recently become a "morningstar" (a mace covered in spikes!)?

LOVELY cover.

Personally, I think Hawkgirl's helm completely rocks even more than Hawkman's.

BTW: speaking of Hawkman's helmet, have you seen the Liefeld version now that he's taking over that book? [cringe]

Agreed on Shayera's helmet - one of the best designs ever.

Dave sez,

Very cool.
I'm trying to get into the new Hawkman series...I'm giving it a try. We'll see where it goes once Liefeld comes on board with #9...It's not a good sign that he's moving from one cancelled book to three others...But, we'll see. I like Hawkman, so hopefully this time will be different...

Good team-up here.

I like how you're matching up common themes. When I came out with my first "Realm Hunter" novel, a reporter asked me who would win in a fight between Bear Waters (my hero) and Boba Fett. For me, a more interesting match would be Doctor Who, the Sliders, or the gangs from Myth Adventures or Dark Tower.

So I'll make this a request, or maybe even a challenge: if you can figure out how to fit either of the existing pictures of Bear with any of the above (including Fett) and execute it, you can expect my seal of approval. And if I like it enough, I'll send you autographe3d copies of both novels.

Amazing cover and perfect match!

Angel is a favorite of mine. He's gotten so screwed up over the decades that I hardly recognize him. But simple elegant idea of a man with wings is just too cool.
