Deadman and Hellboy

I'm always glad to include more Mike Mignola artwork on the blog.  I think this would be a fun pairing because the two characters have similar personalities and are at home in a paranormal setting.

I heard rumors of a Deadman TV series months ago, I hope that is still on track.  Deadman is a great concept for an ongoing show and I hope he retains his look from the comics instead of just grafting his abilities onto the latest hunk of the moment and going for the Twilight crowd.

They are a bit hokey, but I enjoy both of the Hellboy films quite a bit.  I think plans for a third installment have been cancelled due to finances and busy schedules unfortunately.  Still, there are the Hellboy animated movies, Blood & Iron and Sword of Storms.  They have the cast from the movie providing voices and are very well done, I highly recommend them.

Dave sez,

"Repossessed" - Now that's just plain funny, I don't care WHO ya are!

I would not have thought of a Hellboy - Deadman team-up. Still, very cool.

Are you planning a Hellboy - Demon team-up?

A Deadman TV series would be so cool - it would remind me a lot of Quantum Leap. Deadman jumping in and taking control of somebody. Of course it wouldn't be about Time Travel; it could only be contemporary. DC has not had to much success outside of Smallville with a straight-forward adaptation of their properties. I liked The Human Target, it was a shame that it wasn't given much of a (sorry) chance. But then, we ARE talking about Fox. They have a really short attention span as far as their own programming.

I think I read somewhere that the Hellboy actor has just gotten tired of characters with so much make-up. That may or may not be true, but he has made a career of it, so, maybe like Mark Hammill, he's ready to move on to other things...

Ditto the animated Hellboy recommendation.

Hellboy and Demon both have multiple appearances coming up... not necessarily together but that is a good idea...

I would love to see a Deadman series, but the latest news might make interested producers get cold feet. Last fall husband and wife Max Handelman and Elizabeth Banks sold a sitcom option to Fox called "Dave's Dead". Banks describes it as "It's basically 'Two And A Half Men' but if Charlie Sheen were dead and constantly in a different body." That sounds so close to the premise of Deadman that even if DC finds a producer who can see the character's potential for an action series, the failure of that sitcom could make viewers who are unfamiliar with the comics avoid trying it. Worse, if the sitcom succeeds, an action show following it might seem derivative.

Oh, and speaking of the animated Hellboys, how about teaming The Amazing Screw-on Head with Tomahawk or Bat Lash?

.....having seen you use Tin Tin, I've been waiting for my other favorite European creation, Asterix! Any chance?

Such a great one here. I dig both characters so this one was a winner for me. I just found out about this site today and find it quite creative and pure fun! Cheers.
