There's definitely a cool moody mystery tale that could be told with these two. Deadman has been rumored to be in the works for inclusion in the DCU, and I hope to hear more on that soon. I enjoyed Man-Thing's MCU introduction and hope that we have not seen the last of him there.

Whoa! Shamus finally got his wish? Awesome! As for how Deadman could communicate with M-T? I would suggest a brief occupation of either Jason Woodrue (alias Floro) or Samuel "Plantman" Smithers. Personally, though, I think the Green wants Boston Brand's help in protecting Earth from a Brain(iac)-washed Tony Stark.
Different enough to suggest Man-Thing covered by Venom vs Anybody! A different kind of tale. You do such stimulating work Ross.
Reportedly, there's a Midnight Sons project in the works to follow the Blade movie that would include Man-Thing as well as Jack Russell (Werewolf by Night), the Black Knight, Ghost Rider, and others.
It just now occurred to me that a cover featuring a team-up of the Midnight Sons with Justice League Dark would be very cool.
Unfortunately, said MCU Blade movie seems to be stuck in development hell, at the last I heard. So who knows if Midnight Suns will even come to pass?
As for today's cover... Wow! Now that's a hook! I'm dying to read this freaking issue to find out the same answer to Boston's question! What COULD be calling Man-Thing here???
Dear Tobor: first of all (at the risk of sounding like Sally Brown), I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving. Secondly, in light of your request to Ross, I'm reminded of a previous request you made concerning a make-believe story told through a recycling of previous cover-sims in the style of those old Topps trading cards. So, I did some anal-retentive background research and fleshed out a make-believe story line that could utilize Ross' previous simulations for STF #6, STF #333, STF #968, STF #1728, STF #3325, STF #3348, STF #3503, and STF #4324.
MODOK of AIM has been using the Sunderland Corporation as a front in his efforts to reverse-engineer a Boom Tube-generating Mother Box that his people stole from Intergang. Dr. Quest and Race Bannon, of course, have been assigned the mission of stealing it from them. And, as a result of their never-ending overzealous efforts to help out, Jonny and Hadji have been captured by AIM.
MODOK sadistically injects them with Hy'lythri DNA (experimentally imported from Kun-Lun via Boom Tube). And Alec Holland, sensing this as the Swamp Thing, rescues the boys after recruiting the Man-Thing for help in distracting MODOK. Unfortunately, for them, Holland refuses to return the boys to Dr. Quest because he considers their gradual conversion, into phyto-elemental beings, as irreversible! So the Man-Thing (subconsciously guided by dim memories of Ted Sallis and Benton Quest having once been research partners) must rescue Jonny and Hadji from this misguided guardian of the Green. Which he does with the help of Jedi Master Yoda (who's arrived from Dagobah via the Nexus of All Realities).
In grateful return for both that and the injection of an antidote derived from knobby white spider-tree sap, Jonny and Hadji agree to help a certain Shi'ido Jedi Master bring a certain newborn pair of infant twins to Earth. With Little Leia becoming the ward of Alec Holland (subject to periodic inspections by Yoda and the Man-Thing). While Little Luke becomes the adopted son of the future "Kirk Langstrom" (whose part-time crime-fighting disguised as a Borovian matukai warrior have earned him the tabloid nickname "Man-Bat").
The End?
Rama Kushna, perhaps?
Ok, Anon...research aside, the antidote might be found too quick. Having Jonny asking Alec Is that you? Would get a thumbs up. Future Quest has been so easily forgotten. Great story!! A side note- someone else takes Langstrom's serum and it doesn't work well on them!!
And Anon, if you're going to do that much work, credit yourself so everyone can ask you to blend with other ideas they get as well! Good show!!
Maybe he thought modesty was the best policy. ;-)
I recall a B. & Bold adv. where Deadman possessed a painting briefly so the living Man-Thing would be no problem for him.
The only way this gets better is if we add the Phantom Stranger or Doctor Strange. Magic, ghosts and oddly cute Monsters? Sign me up! Just don't let it get too eerie. I may like a lot of these supernatural characters, but i'm actually incredibly easily scared.
Well, hopefully, you won't get too scared by this morning's apparent sequel @ STF #4632.
