Ms. Marvel and Supergirl in: "The Doomsday/Destroyer War!"

For the 17th Appearance of The Danvers Twins on this blog, I thought that I would put them up against two of the toughest bruisers in comics. I'm thinking that and action packed issue like this one would have to include some epic splash pages and at least one double page spread.

Wow… great cover and a great matchup between Doomsday and the Destroyer.

I don't think any splash page will ever top the one from 1981's SUPERMAN & SPIDER-MAN (with the irresistible Hulk pounding away against the immovable Man of Steel). But, this clash of titans would definitely rival it. Well done, Ross!

I can't think of anything to say about this cover that you didn't already say yourself, Ross, except: Wow.

i LOVE the two major threats going against each other and the heroes want to stop them?? oh sure, Damage Control has been busy enough lately. The insurance companies will throw them a parade! What a cover..two for one.

Danvers, Massachusetts?

Should have been Doomsday and The Mangog (which you never use).

Probably just as well. Doomsday would've whittled him down to a little boy-gog!

This cover showcases 2 problems with the direction of the blog.

1 = Super-heroines don't appear even remotely close to their male counterparts each month & when they do they have more repeat team ups with certain characters than their male counterparts. Wonder Woman being tied to Cap. America also comes to mind. I don't think any of the big 6 DC male characters (Superman, Batman, Robin, Flash, Green Lantern or Aquaman) have been tied to another character for 17 appearances (plus appear more frequently than this version of Supergirl who doesn't appear with the LOSH that often to rack up appearances with other characters). It comes across like you don't know what to do with them & the Danvers team -ups fills the once (or twice) a month double female pairing & WW with Cap is your default pairing when WW hasn't been seen in awhile as a solo act.

Maybe if you continue the blog into 2025, you can make some lists of various Marvel team members (Avengers, Defenders, X-groups, etc.) that Supergirl (& Wonder Woman) have yet to encounter & give fans the element of surprise with a team-up guest star that they are currently lacking when they appear on the blog (It came as no surprise to me that when Supergirl would appear next it would be with a Danvers team-up). I would've bet money on it.

Brave & The Bold, DC Comics Presents, Marvel Team-Up, Marvel 2-in-1 always had a sense of mystery of who their flagship characters would appear with next & both Kara (& Diana) seem to be lacking that feature in their appearances on this otherwise great blog. Maybe you could kill 2 birds with 1 stone in 2025 & team up both Supergirl & Wonder Woman with some third acts (that neither one has encountered yet) all on the same covers for some fresh/different takes.

Supergirl vs Phoenix would be a challenge for the woman of tomorrow.

Spidey teaming up with Supergirl (sans her sister) might fit Anon1255's criteria, as well.

So, what's problema numero dos?

Supergirl and WW will indeed be meeting some new guest stars down the line. I keep getting requests for new installments in thir ongoing storylines/partnerships as well, which is why they are revisited from time to time. Other super-heroines are on the way as well.

For a really weird partnering, maybe Wonder Woman and the Tick?

Here’s an idea. Why don’t you create your own crossover website because you’re such an expert.

Like Fishnet Angel from Shooting Star Comics?
