This cover serves as a direct follow up to STF #3772, where The Joker promised a fun time to a Smilex-infused Impossible Man. Now, we see just what the Clown Prince of Crime had in mind!
Finding this smiling Sentinel image gave me the idea for this cover - but I had to build him out a bit first. Here's a look at the behind the scenes process:

EXCELLENT!
Nuff said...again. :-)
LOVE this! The question I have is; is this one of those Apokoliptian Sentinels we saw a couple days ago? Or is there at least some connection?
Brilliant work as always, Ross.
oh to sit down and read this one !
bloomin Brilliant !
and i do wonder if this is the junk heap Sentinel who had his own series….
OK; hear me out: Mr. J and Impy decided it would be "funny" to give some Sentinels a "power boost" courtesy of Darkseid; and gave them a "field test" against The Angel; when Mister Miracle noticed Apokoliptian technology and got involved; a couple of days ago in STF #4299
This looks more like a long-lost episode of BARNEY THE DINOSAUR.
"I blast you. You scream 'EEEEE!' What a happy family."
Seriously, though; so this was, like, the final chapter in another one of your trilogy pastiches? Starting with STF #3772; which was followed by STF #4299?
@Anon207: that looks to be about the size of it! Although, only Ross knows for sure.
Gentlemen (and Ladies, perhaps?) - Sorry to disappoint; but the connection between this issue and #4299 was entirely MY idea!
I will admit that I'm flattered, though.
Suppose Impy isn't affected by smilex because he is an alien and is having some fun with Joker "to have fun"?
Joker might close off feeling he has been upstaged. Wouldn't that be a shame?
some day the box might have "I am not a number"
This plus watching "Ultimate Spider-Man" on Disney+ have me wondering if we could have a pastiche of the old "angel on one shoulder, demon on the other" trope: Galactus as the central figure, Joker on his left shoulder, Hellboy on his right.
Joker: "Trust me, Big G! Earth will be delicious!"\
Hellboy: "But... but... but... kittens!"
Bob, as an alternative, Donald Duck with Jason Blood on one shoulder and Angel O'Day (or Warren Worthington, or both) on the other
You're welcome, Jared. :-)
So, a smiling Sentinel is not necessarily "Mello".
@Anon818: you did not just say that! :-(
@Carycomic: "Every joke begins with J!"
Some fairly broad hints have been dropped that the Impossible Man is Mr. Mxyzptlk, but the image of him juicing up the Sentinel with Apkplips technology "to keep things interesting" sounds like something Bat-Mite would do.
Hmmm....
