Seven Soldiers of Victory Vs. The Invaders in: "Victory Slap!"

This year may be a bit tougher than most to find things to be thankful for, but I am still counting my blessings.  I am glad I will get to see at least a few of my relatives today for the holiday.  I am also of course thankful to all who take the time to stop and visit this blog on a regular basis so that I can share my love of comic artists and characters with them.  Happy Thanksgiving!

These two teams first crossed paths in STF #2824...

Being on stage and explaining to the audience what you're doing is easy if you have practiced doing it enough. But to still mystify?? A work of art. Congratulations on your part in entertaining the world with "recycled materials" reimagined with your creativity.

We don't have Thanksgiving in the UK. But here's wishing you, Ross, and all your US supporters, a very happy (and safe) one.
P.S. The team meetings you occasionally run are always cool. This one works just great.

This is a comic I would buy and I do not buy comics anymore.
I loved the Crisis on Earth XYZ stories.

You need to add them to the Rossverse!

I like to think of this confrontation as being a sequel to the Invaders story arc where Cap, Namor, and the Torches had been captured and brainwashed by the Red Skull. Indirectly leading to the formation of the Liberty Legion! Not to mention, the invention of TESS-1.

In the STFU, however, it's obviously the Seven Soldiers of Victory who confronted the Invaders about the acts of sabotage they committed under the Red Skull's influence. Which raises the question; are the 7SV doing this as mind-controlled pawns in a Red Skull contingency plan?

Either way, Ross? Thanks for giving us these dream covers for the past ten years (and then some).

Haha, thanks guys... The Rossverse has a nice ring to it and I've always preferred to use Earth-STF... STFU means something else where I come from though!

All the more reason to use that abbreviation, Ross -- at least, IMO.

This is a good Thanksgiving cover, Ross. It even includes a real turkey, in the form of Namor's head. (That's a horrible bit of drawing. I almost feel literal pain just looking at it.)

I kind of wonder how this fight would gear up. The Human Torch and Green Arrow look like they're getting started (it's cool how the Torch has his hand up as if to block that arrow). Toro looks like he's charging the Crimson Avenger. The Star Spangled Kid looks like he's pointing right at Whizzer. I imagine that Speedy and Bucky would go at each other, and Stripesy and Cap. The Shining Knight would be too chivalrous to want to fight a woman, so he'd probably take on Namor while Vigilante would take Miss America.

As for who'd win, I think the Invaders would prevail handily, giving Cap a chance to talk sense into the Seven Soldiers so all 14 heroes could go after the villain who framed them.

This is actually the All-Winners Squad, not the Invaders, as Roy (the Boy) Thomas didn't create that name until the '70's and Whizzer and Miss A were part of the Liberty Legion until after the war. But that name and logo wasn't one of Timely's finest, so I don't actually have a problem with the Earth-STF version of the Squad using the better known name.

And yes, the 40's art could be problematic. Stripesy is almost as painful to look at as Namor.

I just discovered your awesome site. It has given me hours of escapist joy over the past couple of weeks as I go through all of the covers. Thank you for sharing your skill and creativity and reminding me why comics are so great. Cheers to you!

Since the 7 Soldiers don't have any real powers, this should not take long.
And if they think they can out maneuver a team Cap leads? Forget it Bucko.

Ross hope you've had a fun day of Zooming. Video phones XD

friends and family that the virus prevents seeing in person. Happy non-turkey daze.

@Bob Greenwade: maybe that's the real reason the Seven Soldiers think the Invaders are criminals. Subby's head is shaped more like that of a Skrull!

Late note: I was curious about how often the Whizzer had appeared here, and couldn't remember whether he'd ever met the Flash. Indeed, he had three early adventures with Jay Garrick, and I think that this Golden Age speedster pairing is worth reviving. (Maybe Jay can suggest he do something about that name!)

I agree with Bob Greenwade, Invaders win. The only "superhuman" on the 7 Soldiers is the Shining Knight, and his power seems to depend on who's writing him. But even the few feats of strength I've seen him pull off would put him around Cap's level. The Knight vs. Cap would be the only interesting match u. But both heroes would make better teammates, given their sense of good. The rest of the 7 are just outmatched.
