Doctor Light operated like DC's version of Doctor Doom in a way. He was not tied to a single hero and could show up in anyone's title. He would confront individual heroes as well as entire teams. It's too bad that later on he was turned into a joke or worse by many writers.
So, just who is the one Marvel hero that can stop him? Hint: Said hero is on this cover! Can you guess before all is revealed in tomorrow's exciting conclusion?

I see 2 heroes who can stop him Cloak & Captain Marvel
Hmmmm! Could it be the Invisible Woman? Yes, I see her next to Mr. Fantastic. But, her eyes are closed...which usually means she's concentrating on projecting her equally invisible force field!
My alternative guess? Monica "Photon" Rambeau (in the upper right corner).
Next to Hercules and beneath the Thing's left leg.
Eclipso kind of operated like that too. He's tangled with Batman, Green Lantern, the Creeper, and the entire JLA.
My first thought for the "one hero" was Cloak, though it took me a while to find him on the cover and even so I'm not sure it's him. My next was Photon, followed by the Scarlet Witch. Invisible Woman is a good thought, too. But I only just now noticed that there's one hero here who isn't reeling from Dr. Light's onslaught: Captain America!
Regarding Doctor Light in the comics, his deterioration in general wasn't as bad as how it was handled. A brain tumor, a realization of his condition, and a heroic redemption in death would've been a much better way to go.
PS: I really should pick one, seriously, out of my guesses, and that's Wanda.

A good two parter would be:

Being ancient, I remember Dr. Light's debut against the JLA in the early '60s. Striking cover with the heroes converging from all sides, and the first time I ever saw the "heroes switch costumes so the villain uses the wrong traps on them" trope.
And the problem I had with Dr. Light being treated as a joke was that it implied that Atom and the Teen Titans were also jokes, which they were not as far as I was concerned.
Considering what was done in 'Identity Crisis' to "redeem" Dr Light's reputation as a dangerous villain, Brad agreed with you Ross.
As to the current battle - light gets absorbed by something or deflected to fight it.
But, is it simply light or something mixed in with it? Radiation, some other energy, etc? There is a number of people who can fight it if they are not ambushed.
Can the Dr bend light to go around Cap' s shield? If Sue can't contain the light in a force field, can she neutralize it by turning it invisible? What is in his light? Just light or something else?
Identity Crisis was what I was thinking of when I wrote "or worse", I hate what Meltzer did with the character in that mini-series.
@Ross - Identity Crisis was the annual federally mandated crisis at DC and showed it. it wasn't organic, it wasn't imaginative, and it wasn't very fun. Especially the point where the villains said, "Okay, that's it - now we're REALLY trying to kill you!" I wondered which heroes would finally be pushed over the edge and started fighting back with equal motivation. That is - "I've had enough of you, Penguin. You've killed too many innocents. Say your prayers."
I was going to guess the Shroud could deal with Dr. Light, but I don't see him. All of the guesses below were pretty good. I think it would be Cloak.

Ambush Bug conquers the Disney-verse!
& Deadpool conquers the Image-verse.
Invisible Woman makes most sense to me.
Finally a vote for something that matters. I campaign for Cloak. He can be the man to unite the universes, Marvel and DC, and just see one nation of Superheroes. Cloak!
It's black suited Spider-Man. Who even with his eyes closed, can use his spider-sense (pat. still pending) and use the Hulk as a shield. How he's gonna knock the doc is still up in the air. ( is that ant-man and yellowjacket and the wasp?)
All this talk of mistreating a bad dude has a question. Ross suppose the 1940s Superman, Bat-Man, and original Spider-Man teamed to be judge and jury from the start?

@Superior Horsefeathers: probably not. Even the Golden Age Batman initially carried a gun! Although, that was used mostly against the vampires led by Dala and The Monk.
The first time I remember Dr. Light going down easily was Teen Titans #44, the revival of the original Teen Titans series. After taking out the experienced heroes, he is easily taken out by rookie Mal Duncan in an exo-harness and wearing a golden age hero's costume (The Guardian). After that issue, he was always a light weight (no pun intended).
A hero ON this cover... I pick the one that is NOT either drawn in agony or surrounded by a yellow aura. That would be Captain America.
It's not his power set. It's just what Cap does.
You forgot the Spectre.
Ironically that was around the same time Steve Engelhart made him a prime threat in his Justice League run. Talk about one hand and so on.
