I remember when Batman and the Outsiders was first announced, and while I would miss my favorite series, The Brave and the Bold, I was intrigued by this new team. One major appeal for me was the inclusion of two favorites, Black Lightning and Metamorpho. Not only were they both cool characters that needed a regular comic home, but it was not lost on me that they were the two heroes that actually refused offers to join the Justice League. Keep in mind, this was back when the JLA was a very exclusive club. So it was cool to finally see them in a group setting.

Intriguing storyline. I'd really like to find out where this goes. Echoes of Yojimbo and Clint Eastwood's "A Fistful of Dollars."
I still miss the old Brave and Bold series, as well as Marvel Team-Up, Marvel 2 in 1 and DC Comics Present. Goos times...
The team up books, back in the day, were awesome. No other team up series since then can measure up. And through them, I was introduced to so many cool characters I'd never seen before.
To be Frank, the emblem on Punisher's chest looks like Bugs Bunny's skull. Any moment I expect a spell to bring it to life with a What's up, Doc? Holy Captain Carrot! Too bad the Captain couldn't have been included in the Crisis crossover like Black Lightning and Doom Patrol were.
What could happen if a unmarried Reed Richards met a single Rita Farr? Bouncing Boy!
Isn't that redheaded guy on the ground the original Syonide? The brother of the villainess-for-hire who murdered the pre-Halo Violet Harper?
@Cary: Yep! And, if memory serves, they both worked for BL's arch-enemy Tobias Whale.
Totally off topic, but have you ever thought of a "V for Vendetta","V"(Visitors) crossover?
On the time scope there is a picture of Waller with Ororo attacking the Punisher.
Talk about Storming the Castle!
Waller takes on Castle by herself in 'Checkmate!'
@emsley: I've actually suggested that once or twice.
PS: For The Punisher and Ambush Bug, Part 2: "Knock it off with the puns, bug! That's not what 'Punisher' means, and you know it!"
A different take on the same Black Lightning cover:

Looks like Syonide's fashion-designer had descendants all the way into the 30th century. Seeing as how those unisex thigh-high boots were also sported by certain members of the LSH during the late Silver Age!
Maybe it was part of a millenial anniversary nostalgia craze.
