Ka-Zar and B'Wana Beast

B'wana Beast is one of the heroes that Grant Morrison brought back during his run on Animal Man.  Morrison is well known for his talent at writing off-beat and bizarre characters as well as his love for all of the obscure corners of DC's Silver Age, so showcasing this creator of animal hybrids was right up his alley.  Lets hope he doesn't sit on the shelf for decades before another writer takes a crack at him.

Thanks to BigMike20X6 for suggesting the idea of getting these two together!

Another good combo. But who's the dude aboard the elephant?
It'd be fun to mix other characters in with these guys. Two that leap to my mind are Tarzan and DC's Congorilla... have you ever done anything with him?
Hmm. A Gorilla Guerrila Squad. Trouble is the only apes that leap to mind are all DC. Darn.

Ross, pains me to write this but it has already been decades since Morrison's Animal Man run (almost three of them I think).

Time flies!

@Davejonz: Marvel has plenty of apes! There's Gorilla Man of the Agents of A.T.L.A.S. His villainous namesake from the Headmen. And the Beasts of (former East) Berlin who could be ret-conned as now working for the Russian Maggia!

He's right! Gorilla Man #1 was just seen three days, ago, @ STF #2989.

I was in mood for animation yesterday so watched JLU episode "This Little Piggy" in which B'wana Beast played a major part of it. Not sure how close he was to Morrison's version but certainly a fun one. Question is can B'wana Beast combine two sentient animal heroes to make another temporarily.

Yes, these two are a great pair. I don't know why I didn't think of this one myself. I see that I was not the only one to think of Tarzan when I saw this. I also thought of Kamandi. Thanks once again, Ross, for all these amazing story ideas and the covers that go along with them.

Cool idea, Big Mike! And well executed, Ross!

Re: Gorillas: There are good gorillas and evil gorillas. A free-for-all mixing them all up would make for a great cover with gorilla warfare. #BadPunNoCookie

Gorilla Warfare - nice one!

Bob G- quit monkeying around. Once I heard his 'Gorilla my Dreams', Grodd sent me his Congo Bill. I told him, it was Vine with me this time only.

@Glenn: You just gave me an idea: B'wana Beast and (Captain Carrot and the) Zoo Crew.

Anon 12:59 PM: or B'wana Beast and Kamandi.

@Davejonz: That is an elephant, right, not one of the ice age relatives?; BTW @Ross: Were you thinking of Turok?

Kraven the Hunter has a new hunt:

Tarzan of the Apes ... Ka-Zar the Lord of the Jungle ... Sheena the Queen of the Jungle ... Rima the Jungle Girl ... Mowgli the Legend of the Jungle ... B'wana Beast the Jungle Master ... and Turok the Dinosaur Hunter.

Who will be the last one standing? ...
Will George of the Jungle be able to save them?

@Anon113: Nope! That B.A. woolly mammoth.

Maybe Turok is a little misplaced in the previous group, so I make another group suggestion:

- Turok ... Scalphunter ... Red Wolf ... Mirage (Dani Moonstar) ... Shaman (Alpha Flight) ... Rainmaker (Gen 13) ... and Warpath (or Thunderbird).

Oh, and why stop now?

We go to a rodeo with the Wild West Warriors:

- Jonah Hex ... Lone Ranger ... Rawhide Kid ... Bat Lash ... Vigilante (Greg Saunders) ... and Ghost Rider (Rex Fury).

And, keeping my tradition of being annoying ...

When Brainiac 5 computes that hacking Cerberus is the only way to save the 30th century, inevitable is the clash between...

- Legion of Super-Heroes vs. X-Men, featuring:

- Cyclops vs. Wildfire ...
- Jean Grey vs. Saturn Girl ...
- Angel vs. Dawnstar ...
- Iceman vs. Polar Boy ...
- Beast vs. Chameleon Boy ...
- Storm vs. Lightning Lad ...
- Colossus vs. Ferro Lad ...
- Wolverine vs. Timber Wolf ...
- Nightcrawler vs. Shadow Lass ...
- Magneto vs. Cosmic Boy ...
- Kitty Pryde vs. Invisible Kid ...

(*) The Legion of Super-Heroes have already faced Magneto (#24) and Phoenix (#322) and also joined forces with the X-Men (#550) in the 30th century Savage Land.

Still complementing the note above ... Also, already have met before: Angel and Dawnstar ( #1132 ) ... Timber Wolf and Wolverine ( #76 ) ... and, Cosmic Boy has already faced both Magneto ( #25 ) and Polaris ( #1569 ).

@Carycomic: you forgot one. M'Baku the Man-Ape of Wakanda.

"White gorillas matter."

Anonymous said...

Above anon, the white gorilla from Wakanda could meet the Ultra Humanite in his white ape phase.

P.S. Your white gorillas matter joke is in poor taste, especially in the current environment.

Precisely the point I was trying to make with reverse-psychology.

one wonders if Federal Marshel Rex Fury (aka The Calico Kid / Ghost Rider) is related to Agent of S.H.E.I.L.D. Nick Fury????
could be a highly dramatic looking cover idea here Ross....

@Jack-el: they're probably grandfather and grandson.
