I believe the late, great Philip Jose' Farmer once wrote a short story, about the aftermath of King Kong's death, which featured cameo appearances by Doc Savage and the Shadow. I've often wished that he had done a sequel to it, wherein Kong had actually been riddled with some of Doc's "mercy bullets" (basically, steel-jacketed tranquilizer darts) while the Shadow used his mind-clouding powers to _fake_ Kong's death. Thereby allowing his evacuation to Caprona (ERB's "The Land That Time Forgot"). With Tarzan accompanying the expedition as Kong's interpreter!
The story by Farmer (who was a friend of mine) was entitled "After King Kong Fell." I wrote a follow-up to Phil's story, entitled "The Beast"; it is the lead piece in my latest book, "The Beast And Other Secret Histories," which was published earlier this year and is available on Amazon.com. I was just thinking this morning about how Godzilla hadn't shown up in this blog for a while, and wondering who could be pitted against him. The Inferior Five would be my first choice, with Captain Klutz as another possibility; Bugs Bunny or Yakko, Wakko, and Dot Warner would also be funny. On the more serious side, perhaps the Doom Patrol or the Fantastic Four; he seems like an appropriate challenge for either of those groups. Or Voltron.
As for today's cover and the first two comments (thank you, Cary and John), I'm a little surprised that this combination wasn't done somewhere much earlier.

Hey Cary Comic and other interested parties, in regards to Cary Comic's first post, that is a nearly 180,000 word fanfiction story called "The Giant King by Kenneth Robeson" written by Unitarian Jihadist. It is a crossover between King Kong and Doc Savage with strong Black Panther elements. It's summary is "Doc Savage and his friends, including the Black Panther, join forces with the crew of the Venture to return Kong home. But to get out of Kong’s world alive everyone must now rely on the great ape’s incredible strength and even more incredible mind." It also includes some other minor crossovers as well. Decades ago there was a Mother Goose & Grimm comic strip where in a note, King Kong challenges Tarzan for the title of King of the Apes, and tells him to meet him at the Empire State Building.
