I'm still scratching my head at many of the decisions made for the now cancelled Inhumans TV series. Making it a TV show instead of a film was probably the first one, its a property that really needs a big budget to present well. Having almost all of the characters stripped of their powers for most of the series didn't help either - chopping Medusa's hair off in the first episode, never having it return? I know it has happened in the comics before, but it's not what I was hoping to see. This is one property I wouldn't mind giving the Marvel Cinematic Universe a do-over on.

Orion and Medusa

And, as that was reportedly a story arc on ABC's AGENTS OF SHIELD, I feel even more justified than before in not watching that series. Although, permanent hair loss would be comic-canonical if resulting from Orion's astro-force!
Hey, I just noticed after all these years - Super-Team Family still costs 60 cents.
I always thought Inhumans was basically an excuse to get to take a production team to Hawaii, and was sold to the network suits as a "Game of Thrones" vibe with hot Marvel characters. And then once the poor actors saw the broadcast network level scripts and the "no effects" budget they just phoned it in.
The good that came out of Inhumans was that it made Fox's "Gifted" look better than it actually was until that show found its footing.
One of the (many) problems is that while Inhumans needed the budget of a movie to present well, it *also* needed the additional time a TV series would give it to cover everything in the setting. (Of course, then they went and didn't do that latter part, so...) (Seriously, though: Attilan has a strict caste system where certain people get forced into lifelong slavery based on their Terrigenesis. Maximus is able to get support by promising to end that system, while Black Bolt et al. are fighting to restore it. Why are we rooting for Black Bolt again? Maybe if they had spent more than part of the first episode establishing Attilan, giving us some reason to accept WHY things were the way they were, MAYBE there'd be a reason to actually CARE about that society?)
(I could go on at length at the various reasons Inhumans just didn't work, but a major part was that they did need a movie budget, but for a TV series, and that wasn't likely to happen on ABC.) (Also, Scott Buck shouldn't have been allowed anywhere near the show.)
I thought that the Inhumans plot was okay. However, I agree with Ross. It did not help the show that they stripped the characters of their abilities in the first episode and not have them return. It seems to me that they should have had another plot for the first season then move into this storyline in the second or third (assuming that a second or third would have been commissioned). I also agree with others posting that the budget needed to be that of a movie to make this work, and maybe they should have just made it a movie. So, even though I thought it was okay, I know it could have been much, much better if different variables had been introduced.
Maybe if they had been done as a series of two-hour animated TV movies (perhaps on Saturday nights...or even Sat. mornings!), the fan base would have been a lot bigger. Or, at least, big enough that popular demand for a weekly spin-off series would've been greater and better heeded.
Years from now after Marvel is making Fantastic Four movies again they can bring back The Inhumans and just dismiss the tv show an something that happened in an alternate reality. That will be at least a decade away because I don't see them immediately doing a Fantastic Four movie once they get the rights back. They will more likely introduce them in an Avengers movie or a Secret Wars movie.
