Aquaman in The Marvel Universe

Uh oh, looks like Aquaman had a little too much Olympian wine...

The word is that DC will be following Marvel's lead and will be including a couple of extra scenes during and at the end of the credits for Justice League which will set up future movies.  One is supposed to get audiences pumped for the solo Aquaman film, and I am looking forward to checking it out!

Personally, I think Ciegrimite ale puts Olympian wine to shame.

As to the Aquaman film; I hope Mamoa wears the orange chain mail in at least one scene. Like, say, for a formal speech before the UN General Assembly?

I hadn't realized how much I've been missing Jim Starlin until I saw this cover! Thanks, Ross.

I like how, more and more, you've been bringing in follow-up stories showing the effects of earlier stories. Even more than the Cap/WW romance or the adventures of Robo-Force, these serve to make Earth-STF seem like a real, going concern.

A thought: I wonder if Donna Troy could join the Exiles? She does seem to be an "out of her own dimension" sort of character. (For that matter, so does Power Girl.)

(And I promise to not reiterate my wish for a Wolverine/Ambush Bug cover. Really.)

@Cary: I agree. I do hope to see the scaly orange shirt and green tights at least briefly. Conversely, I hope they at least wait a while before the hook-arm thing.

I want to see him ride a giant sea horse!

Ah, never read the Exiles - reality jumping X-team I take it?

Wolverine and Ambush Bug will be showing up soon... just not together. One of these days I'll crack that one, Bob.

@Ross: I'd settle for Ambush Bug vs. the TMNT...or the TMNT vs. Deadpool...or Deadpool vs. Ambush Bug!

@Cary: Ross already did that third one @ STF #285.

Since we're talking about both alcohol and Jim Starlin... This takes me back to the old days in the '70s, and the many nights I spent bar-hopping with Pip the Troll, drinking merde stingers (without the sting, as Pip liked 'em).

If Pip likes to live that dangerously, he should try Ciegrimite ale.

Wolverine and Ambush Bug together is fine. Just find a cover of someone who Wolverine has skewered, preferably a vampire, a replace it with Wolverine and have him cut Ambush Bug's head off to make sure. And nor retcons in this universe.

@Cary: We've had one Deadpool vs Ambush Bug cover already, but I wouldn't be adverse to a rematch.

@Ross: "Reality-hopping X-team" is a close enough description. The group's membership initially are mostly connected to X-Men (indirectly, since all come from other Earths), but others do show up, such as Sasquatch (a black female one, at that), Spider-Man 2099, and others. I don't even know if the book's still going, but you can probably find TPB collections of the early issues at your local library (or request that they get them).

Drax, Iron Man, Reed Richards as shown here. Add sinestro and a few others and you could have a rainbow of widows' peaks.

@Bob Greenwade: Yeah, I know. Anonymous already told me.

@GH: I 2nd your motion.

I've just one question for everyone else. How did Aquaman get here in the first place?

Carycomic said...

Maybe he time-traveled from an alternate-future in which both the Justice League and the Watchmen lost out to their mutual enemy. "Heroes Reborn" (Marvel's year-long post-Onslaught story arc back in the Nineties) had a similar gimmick empowering the four-part, multi-series crossover.

Jay Johnson said...

Or, maybe, after the Avengers / JLA crossover, the DCU's "breachers" (Vibe, Arrowverse's Gypsy, etc) know the MU's "dimensional signature" and open a portal whenever somebody gives them a good enough reason, like a couple of casks of Olympian wine.

Glenn said...

Reed Richards left a dimension spawning cycle in Avengers JLA crossover. How else do you think Wonder Woman visits her husband?

Carycomic said...

@GH: As often as possible.

Ba-DUM-boom!

P.S.---I just got back from seeing JUSTICE LEAGUE THE MOVIE. And I think we can all rest easy about Jason Mamoa as Aquaman. He did an outrageously good job at it!*

In fact, I'll go even farther than that and declare that this film hammers the stuffing out of THOR; RAGNAROK!!**

*Fortunately, he never says the O-word; not even once!

In any case, thanks for bringing back Drax's original look. Even if only for this one "issue."
