The Omega Men and Omega The Unknown
I remember thinking that The Omega Men were going to be the next big thing. They were introduced in the pages of the then red-hot New Teen Titans in one of their coolest story arcs after all. I think the reason that they never really got a chance to catch on is that their series was only available in DC's direct format. I got my comics off the newsstand, so I never saw an issue for sale. I still think they are a cool group and I am glad that DC has found a way to bring them back from time to time.

I think the real reason they never became A-list popular is that they were Vegans...and Earthlings are carnivorous.
Another one I'd read in an instant. Nicely designed cover, too.
silver banshee?
Actually, they were introduced in Green Lantern #141. Personally, I never liked them very much.
Of course, in this story the war is being fomented by the ancient Time Lord known as (you guessed it) Omega.
Where's alpha flight?
How can I withdraw my comment? This could just open a can of worms with the pantheon of characters using Greek letters. Happy new year, Ross. Thanks for all the entertainment.
@Anonymous #2: it could be worse. You could've asked for the sorority sisters of Eta Pi (from REVENGE OF THE NERDS)!
Eta Pi? That's an even worse pun than Etta Candy.
To the last Anon: a setting I once wrote up had a fraternity called Kappa Nu Pi. As you can probably imagine, it's a decidedly "upper-crust" fraternity. #BadPunNoCookie #GettingOffTopic
To my two namesake: someday, I'd like to read a piece of fanfiction that features a fictional sorority called Kappa Alpha Tau. The nympho members of which proudly abbreviate it...KAT House!
I never gotta chance to get into The Omega Men or Infinity Inc. for the same reasons Ross. See those ads were so frustrating at the time. Question: Are there currently MORE comic shops now in proliferation then there were in 1982?
I really liked the concept especially a solar system on which almost every planet was settled; very scifi. It was during one of the collector crazes and I was sure this was going to be a big hit and bough extra to trade. Think that was last I did.
They were pretty boring and reminded me too much of that Marvel group in the X-Men (who were all boring). Never gave me a reason to care about them or the Vega system during their NTT appearances.
Omega Men vs. Starjammers? That would definitely NOT be boring!
@Unknown: that probably depends on locality. In big cities, it's practically guaranteed yes. In moderately small towns (pop. 50K or less)? Most likely, no.
