Starman and Captain Marvel

I wonder if there will be any mention of Mar-Vell in the upcoming Captain Marvel movie.  how cool would a pre-credits sequence featuring him be, giving some back-story to the heroic legacy that Brie Larson's Carol Danvers is about to inherit?  I'd love to see that Gil Kane-designed costume in live action.

This is only Part One of a Two-Part saga - make sure to stop by again tomorrow for the exciting conclusion!

Steve Ditko's Starman was a unique novelty in the '80's. I really need to track down the issues of Adventure Comics that he appeared in, again. The whole (SPOILER ALERT) Will Payton merged with Prince Gavyn just kinda rang sour with me. Holy unsatisfying ending, indeed!

Oh, I don't know, Dave. It was a lot less bizarre than the trans-jenner version of Rose Psychic and Dr. Occult! In fact, maybe Marvel Studios could do the same thing with the film version of Carol Danvers. Have her--instead of Rick Jones--being the one to switch places with the good captain in the Negative Zone!

Re: today's cover? I think the title, alone, gives us a pretty good idea who's going to be on the cover for Part 2. What the Anti-Monitor wants with everybody's favorite android is beyond me! But, for sure, it's not going to be something altruistic.

I agree with Cary in that the title does give a bit away; at least one element is pretty clear for tomorrow's cover. Not that I mind horribly; we still don't know the other element(s). It could be just these same two, or it could be someone like Harbinger. I guess we'll find out in the morning.

PS: I had to check to see if there's been a Wonder Man/Wonder Woman cover, and sure enough they did have a date way back in #36, almost five years ago. It occurred to me recently, though: what if they learned that they are actually twins? (Yes, folks, I really would go there!)

Greatest joke Jerry Seinfeld never told:

"Why is it, whenever someone brings up an unpleasant subject, everybody else always says the same thing? 'Don't go there!" Once you mention the subject out loud, however briefly, it's too late. You're already there! What they _should_ say is 'Come back from there and don't ever go there, again.' "

Early in the Dr. Strange movie, there's mention of a “22 year-old female with an electronic implant in her brain to control schizophrenia — struck by lightning.” Speculation is that this is the movieverse origin of Captain Marvel, bypassing Mar-Vell completely. But AFAIK it's just speculation.

I hope Jim Starlin will be all right, he was injured when his sodastream machine blew up. I'm being serious here. I don't know if posting links is allowed.

I checked on that Starlin vs Sodastream story -- confirmed! It's a pretty nasty series of injuries, too, but it looks to me like he'll have a full recovery.

@BB: I thought it might have been a reference to Typhoid Mary.*

Bob B, said 'struck by lightning.” Speculation is that this is the movieverse origin of Captain Marvel'. That would really cause confusion given Billy Batson/Captain Marvel's connection to lightning.

@Anon #2: Unless that's also a hint at a CGI depiction of the nega-band transposition,

A minor correction: the red-and-blue Captain Marvel costume was designed by Gil Kane. Starlin tweaked it a bit, but it's still Kane's design.

And crazier than Harley Quinn, but not in a good way: I'll pass on that one, thank you very much.
