Good point about DC's Jack. Didn't he last show up in Morrison's JLA:Classified arc? Really cool character and power set, but no respect given these days. Interesting match-up between him and Marvel's Jack. I can see DC's Jack saying those exact words.
I liked DC's Jack since his debut days in the early Super Friends comics. His backup series was fun too.

I'm not too familiar with Marvel's Jack, but I enjoyed the Super Friends appearances of DC's.
BTW, I was just rereading the posts of the last few days, and noticed that every comment I've made from my phone has been posted twice. I guess I'd better stick to commenting from my computer.

I'm with you, Ross! I always felt the Global Guardians as a whole was a wasted opportunity that DC should have utilized further. When Justice League International had its run, Fire and Ice were well utilized, but the other guardians (Godiva, Jack Lantern, Dr. Mist-the African guy who I think was Muslim!, and Tasmanian Devil- my favorite)and all the others fell by the wayside. I was particularly interested in Dr. Mist and Tasmanian Devil. SIGH, I loved the 1980s, but they were rife with blown opportunities as well!!
I think the other Jack was an underused villain. He was a bit of a Green Goblin ripoff, but a fun one, who evoked the days when the GG wasn't wreathed in tragedy and convoluted plot lines.
This site makes me long for the days when comics were still fun to read. I still go to the comic shop almost every week and desperately try to find something fun to read. The only Marvel or DC book I read regularly is Scooby Doo Team-Up!
I agree with ENERGY LAW. Tasmanian Devil did appear quite a bit in JLI, though. The Guardians I wanted to see more of were Rising Sun and Thunderlord. There's a real shortage of Asian male superheroes in the DC universe. Other than those two, who else is there? Karate Kid (maybe... he became half-Asian in a retcon), Ram (of the forgettable New Guardians), and Sonny Sumo?

Sunburst, who died in CoIE; Myg, alias Karate Kid [II] in the pre-Zero Hour LSH; Dragonmage in the post-Zero Hour LSH; the half-Vietnamese twins Thunder & Lightning (first appearance in New Teen Titans; apparently killed in Salvation Run); some of Rising Sun's colleagues in 'Big Science Action' (the official Japanese super-team of the setting); some members of the wish-I-could-forget-them 'Super Young Team' (introduced in Final Crisis); Mr Unknown [I] of Japan, whom we saw only after his murder; and Mr Unknown [II] who became 'the Batman of Japan' and who still exists in post-Flashpoint continuity.
@ Simreeve Thunder & Lightning!!! Now here is one of Marv Wolfman's creations (from the halcyon days when the Teen Titans were written for ADULTS, and were almost more popular than the X-Men) that i often prayed would get their own one-shot, mini-series or graphic novel. The issue in which they debuted was actually my first purchase of a The New Teen Titans comic book, and that stand-alone story, their origin, the political use of Vietnam as part of the backdrop, just blew me away. I was hooked on this book, but sadly, they rarely appeared again in the '80s and I was so pissed they were killed on Crisis on Infinite Earths.
Oh, and I forgot some more: If you can accept applying the "heroes" label to agents of the mainland Chinese government then there's also most of the male members of 'the Great Ten' (first appearance during '52'?; at least one still existing in post-Flashpoint continuity) although I personally would refuse to accept any attempt at labelling [strike]Egg Fu[/strike] Chang Tzu as a hero: Apart from anything else, he gloated too much about the devastation that the Four Horsemen of Apokolips -- whom he had helped to manifest on Earth -- would cause...
I was fascinated by the way they handled Jack in Justice League Europe. I always really enjoyed his design. This is a classic crossover. Akin to your Scarecrow/Scarecrow piece. Or pieces?
Dr. Mist is a great character. Any chance of using him, Ross? His giant head rock carving, like the Phantom's Phantom Head Peak, pre-date Mt. Rushmore, in comic time if not in real time.
I like Dr. Mist as well, don't be surprised if he shows up here one day.
Hmmm, a magical version of Green Lantern versus a Green Goblin wanna-ne... gee, I wonder who will win?
