The Doom Patrol and The X-Men

While there hasn't been any solicitation for a Doom Patrol series in the newly rebooted DCU, Robotman at least got a spotlight in the My Greatest Adventure mini-series.  I wasn't crazy about his new design, which seems to be a throwback to Cliff Steele's brief 70's look and I haven't checked out the series so I don't know if any reference to the other members of the Doom Patrol was made.  The X-Men are another team I haven't checked in on in a while, not really wanting to dive into the sea of so many titles and characters to follow.  Hopefully once the huge Avengers Vs. X-Men crossover has ended and the dust settles there will be a more streamlined title that a lapsed reader can easily join.

Dave sez,

Cool cover.

I'm glad to see that you didn't go for the obvious Fantastic Four-Doom Patrol team-up, but the spotlight on "different", "unique" and "freaky".

Very nice.

A Doom Patrol-FF team-up would be pretty cool...

"...any reference to the other members of the Doom Patrol"? That's a big 'maybe'. In Cliff's new origin he was a thrill-seeker hired by a group of scientists including one with red hair and a beard who was involved with nanobots. They didn't give him a name, but it looks like they're keeping their options open. Also, Cliff's assistant is obviously supposed to be an alternate universe version of Madame Rouge. And of course, there's some version of Beast Boy running around in another title, too.

Oh, I can see the Doom Patrol and the X-Men take each other on...in a court of law.

Essentially, each team sues the other one for theft of intellectual property.

...lol...

I have to correct your "labels". I'mpretty certain those X-Men figures aren't Kirby but George tuska inked by Vinnie Coletta.

Hey! You finally tossed them against each other! Well, not exactly against each other, but its a start! How about the teams actually fighting each other with vignettes of the Chief and Professor X in torment about the conflict?

A team up that is LONG overdue!

Why not just have Xavier and Caulder battle each other in a story called: "Wheelchair Demolition Derby?"
