I like the bulky armor that Iron Man wore for his first few adventures. Not only does it look cool, but it is more close to reality as far as what a suit of iron would probably look like. For that reason I was happy to see it in live action when the first Iron Man movie was released. It looks like Tony Stark's armor will get another slight makeover for the upcoming Avengers film. It's nice to see the suit evolving, but I have to admit I am a little disappointed that we never got to see the classic red and gold armor with the widow's peak helmet which he wore for the bulk of the Silver and Bronze Age on the big screen. Oh well, Iron Man 3 will have a new director, so maybe he will be more of an old school comics fan and we still have a chance.

I'm surprised that there hasn't been a DC-Marvel Batman - Iron Man team-up!
I am loving these retro covers. This one is brilliant. 3 quick queries;
1 - any chance of seeing any DC Presents or Marvel Team-up covers with Supes and Spidey ?
2 - Any chance of any non-Bats or Thing covers ? ie Aquaman and Namor ??
3 - any chance of a THREE company cover (mind you - was your Thing,Rocketeer and Harbinger cover one of those ???
There was that Rocketeer cover as well as the All-New Outsiders which had many companies represented. Superman and Spidey will definitely get more cover time as well as non-Batman and Thing covers in the next incarnation of The Lost Issues, so stay tuned!
the UPC code shouldn't be on retro covers. They didn't come about till the mid 70's.

this is another one that fits so well you'd actually expect it to have been on the rack.
Curious how early Silver Age Marvel art meshes so well with Golden Age DC. It is almost suggesting the Marvel work was "older" than its own era, and not really fitting with the Silver Age DC work of the same period.
Very true, I have found that it's more about an artist's style than the particular era when it comes to meshing images together.
I have to wonder why Iron Man would be permitted to wear his regular high-tech gauntlets in a public exhibition boxing match. Were Batman's boxing gloves supposed to be Captain-Americium (that fabled adamantium/vibranium alloy) painted brown instead of red-white-and-blue?
