When James Gunn announced that the first phase of the new cinematic DCU would be subtitled Gods and Monsters, it brought to mind a scenario like the one depicted above. I'm not sure what he ultimately has planned, but a classic film featuring not one but two heroic Reeves encountering the King of all Monsters would have been on my regular play list.

i loved those old Hercules Movies, Reeves Superman was much more down to earth, and at that point Godzilla was being shown as a Heroic Monster, this would have been a Great Film !
@Simon: it might even have been a monster hit!
@Ross: seriously, though; the teaming up of the Messrs. Reeves against the Showa-era Gojira is truly inspired. And it would've been well worth the sixty cent price I'd have shelled out, back when I was a grade school kid (late Sixties/early Seventies). That being said, I would've been expecting an equal number of pages, at least. Given how most comics back in the late Sixties/early Seventies still had a standard-sized price of between fifteen and twenty-five cents!
Ah! The Reeves connection is brilliant Ross! I never would have thought of it. This would have been the long sought-after comic book adaptation of the great early Hollywood blockbuster (that would eventually be rerun as the ABC Movie of the Week later on). Herc and Superman would have teamed up, only after their initial encounter started with a good battle that ended in a stalemate. Then they would take on the King of the Monsters, (and this could possibly be the "good guy" Godzilla from the late 60's-early 70's) only to find... insert plot twist here! Excellent start to my Monday.
@Ken & Ross: you know what would make a good sequel to this? "Godzilla vs. Son of the Kraken* (guest-starring Hercules & Superman)!"

Another inspired cross- connection. Now that George has discovered his "foster brother" Steve, surely he will be ready to help him out in his technicolour struggles with the weird and wonderful of Greek mythology.
@ Anon 10:11 - Harryhausen in the house! Whoa! A stop-motion Godzilla? Hmm! Add a subplot with a girl carrying a special sacred gem or scroll, trying to evade some low level bad guys, and you've got a movie deal.
Nah. Major respect to Mr. Harryhausen, but I'd stick with the tradition of using a guy in a rubber suit for Godzilla.
You find out Godzilla has a rudimentary mind and communications ability, but is limited because of the body shape. Superman, having encountered a variety of aliens, feels a little sympathy for the big guy. An early version of someone like Circe caused loads of trouble back then.
Experiences make a big diff for the guy who hails from a little farm from over the hill there. Maybe he'll get the full appreciation again someday.
How about splitting the difference with a latex Kraken?
To paraphrase Hall & Oates? I'd go for that.
^ Hall & Oates reunite (they're currently locked in a big court fight) at The Hall Of Justice for a big concert against The Music Meister & a brainwashed Dazzler.
If that was to be done as a two-parter, what plot gimmick would be used as the clef-hanger?
