With all of the reboots and sequels lately, I suppose it's a minor miracle that Back To The Future has not been targeted for a return to the big screen. I'm sure a lot of it has to do with how well Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd performed their roles in the trilogy - it would be a tall order to try and replace them and the chemistry they brought to their scenes together. Let's hope that Hollywood can resist trying to reinvent the property and let the original films continue to stand on their own.

The rights to the film and its sequels are owned by Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale. In a 2015 interview, Zemeckis maintained that no reboot or remake of the franchise would be authorized during his or Gale's lifetime.

KKWRBruce, I heard there was a petition out there for a reboot, someone upset that Ghostbusters got one but Back To The Future didn't. It's good see they may not succeed because some franchises stop at the right time. They got a cartoon and a video game, they should be happy with that. The story ended and all the arcs fulfilled. I'm not even sure how you would make a fourth movie and the re-imaginings are getting on my nerves. The trilogy is just fine as is.

Re: Casting for a remake... I used to think that if a remake ever happened (not that one is necessary), Robin Williams would have been PERFECT as the Doc. Part of me is sad that I'll never get to see that, but as has been said already, probably best to just leave well enough alone.

I remember just before the Zero Hour reboot, the Legionnaires comic revealed that there were two Emerald Eyes of Ekron. What if only one of them were evil, and the other one good?
So, if Ekron is missing both eyes, then how's he getting around the cosmos? With a retired member of the Canine Space Patrol as a guide dog?

with the Legion rebooted, does that mean the F.5 are getting one too?
Since the 1985 movie had the heroes going back in time to 1955, and then forward to 2015, there's a 30-year cycle going on there. Another 30 years forward is 2045, so if that's the "past" of the reboot then it'd come in 2075. I'll be 114 years old then, so I won't hold my breath for it (certainly not at that age!).
You could always move to Riverdale. They never die of old age, there!*
*Especially not on the gory TV series so very loosely based on (and set in) Archie Andrews' hometown.
