Word on the New Mutants movie is that it is that it has been plagued with difficulties since the beginning. Delays, reshoots, budget issues and indecision over the tone of the film have all seemingly taken their toll. I remember seeing some kind of teaser a good while ago, and to be frank, if it wasn't labeled as a New Mutants movie, I would not have known that's what it was supposed to be. Now the rumor is that it will either go straight to a streaming service or not be released at all. It's too bad, I loved the series in its first few years and would love to see a faithful adaptation one day.

I miss those early days of The New Mutants.
I tossed them aside when a change in the creative team brought about the death of Doug Ramsey/Cypher. Bad enough they got rid of someone with a mutant power that wasn't geared to battle for once; they then had to violate him by reviving him as a mecha-zombie. It was like spitting on the feelings of the fans who liked Cypher.
A faithful adaptation? By Hollywood??
That's a bigger contradiction in terms than "jumbo shrimp" and "honest politician" put together!
Despite it being such an unfaithful adaptation (yes, very much in spite of that) I'm actually quite interested in seeing the New Mutants movie. The trailer actually has me intrigued, and I usually don't like the kind of film that it's apparently become. I probably will watch it unless it's on a streaming service other than Netflix.
On this cover, Ice be around as well? I seem to recall that she's Fire's sister.
Are you sure they are siblings? Fire always struck me as being older than she looked and acted, and that her best super-model days were behind her. Could Roberto actually be her teen-age hookup love child?
This is the Earth-STF Fire so it all makes sense.
@Jay: familial relationships are (for lack of a better term) relative. When Marvel first reintroduced Peggy Carter, circa 1976, as Sharon's older sister AND Agent 13 from World War II, I thought to myself; "No way! Not by the same two parents. Half-sister, at best."
Of course, now, in both comics and movies, she's seen as Sharon's (I think) great-aunt. As in, the sister of one of the latter's grandparents!
New Mutants to be released later this year (I hope).
@Cary: yeah, I know the relationships can get retconned like anything else. But Earth-STF seems to have lots of long-lost siblings, I just thought this might be one where a long-lost child could work and bring a different dynamic to the fight.
@Bob Greenwade: Your memory is a little off for once. Fire is Beatriz DaCosta of Brazil, and Ice was Tora Olafsdotter from Norway. No relation, just good friends from their time in the Global Guardians.
Other Bob: Yes, my memory is "a little off for once." Normally it's way off!
(It's a family trait -- no joke.)
PS: I guess this is "da Costa" superpowers.... #BadPunNoCookie
Well, look at it, this way, guys. They became sisters in the philosophical sense. Equivalent to the old chestnut about all men being brothers!
Some old chestnuts are long-overdue for roasting over an open fire.
Well, Fire's right there on the cover, so....
#BadPunNoCookie
Yeah, but she ain't exactly "open." Wink-wink! Nudge-nudge!
"Fire For Effect!" - Sgt Rock (DC Comics)
Assuming Beatriz was raised properly, the Sarge isn't going to find her nowhere near "Easy."
@Cary Comic that's company for you, Were Beatriz.
I thought you were Farmers. "Boom-boom-boom-boom! Boom-boom-BOOM!"
@Cary Comic ID ever remember Dot Warner (The Warner Sister) do that, but Okiedoke (doke as in Oak I never okiedokey). Boingey Boingey Boingey Boingey!
Here comes the Rhane again (lower right hand corner) floating in my head like a memory like a new emotion. She's caught Red Headed! Bonus Question: Is Perry White trying to "Caese-her"?
Your attention your attention please. Double Plus Good @Bob Greenwade!
I catch every single late day of The Old Ex-Mutants. The First comment has been inverted my work here is done.
I don't think Perry has a "ghost" of a chance. ;-D
That's Headline Stuff @Anonymous. Now let's put this paper to bed.
(Instant) Karma's gonna get ya' Perry!
