Martian Manhunter and The Vision

The brief glimpses of Martian Manhunter in his alien form on Supergirl remain my favorite part of the show.  I still think he belongs on the big screen, though.  Any Justice League sequel will want to distance and differentiate itself from the first attempt, so I feel that the additions of Green Lantern and J'onn J'onzz are a must.  Get an amazing actor like Idris Elba or Denzel Washington to portray the Manhunter from Mars and he could steal the show!

I agree, Ross. If they had introduced JJ on a live-action series like "LOIS & CLARK," back in the Nineties, they probably would have had to model his green CGI after Michael Berryman! But, with the obvious advances in prosthetic make-up since then, that is no longer necessary.

As for today's cover? The android Vision might have to call on his Golden Age namesake for help. Might be fitting; especially with St. Patrick's Day coming up, next weekend!

You could entitle their trio "The Daring of the Green."

Cary Comic - dang, you're like a genius! "Daring of the Green!" Fantastic. Maybe include the Green Lama - a mystical, non-Marvel, green sobriqueted hero.

Ross, I don't know if J'onn could carry a whole move... but if it's the character similar to the one on Supergirl, why not give it a shot? I mean, Ant-Man did so well, he's getting a sequel! Shucks, get a cameo appearance by Green Lantern, and voila - now the whole Justice League has appeared in cinema.

They did Martian Manhunter on Smallville a few years ago too.

Martian Manhunter + Hulk + Kermit (+ Green Lama + Green Hornet ?) = the 'Green Team'?

"it isn't easy being green."

See The Emerald Elite....

Two things I would do with future JLA movies: 1. Give it to Pattie Jenkins, who has demonstrated the ability to tell a story about classic heroes answering the call to duty. This I would do without hesitation; 2. Go with the JSA after whatever is in the pipeline for the JLA now gets done. Set it during WWII, with Per Degaton manipulating the Third Reich. Focus at least the first movie on JUST the Big 3+2, Superman, Batman, WW, GL, The Flash, then go with the add more characters in sequels approach. Yeah, I know, the Big 3 weren't in it from the get-go, but these are the core DC characters, need them in a movie to start out for the benefit of the wider movie-going audience.

Oh, and 3. HAVE SOME FUN WITH THE DAMN THING. These are superhero stories, they're supposed to be fun at least as much as anything else.

I, too, would love to see J'Onn on the big screen, even if he's only in the Justice League sequels. As for the actor to play him, my choice is a rather unusual one though I think he'd be brilliant at it: Jamie Foxx.

Wasn't crazy about his Electro, but that's not bad...

@Simreeve: "Green Team" is already the official title for that crime-fighting group of rich teenagers Jack Kirby dreamed up for that mini-series of FIRST ISSUE SPECIALS back in the Seventies.

@Ross: I, however, wouldn't mind seeing the Emerald Elite go after the Daring of the Green. With the former under the mind-controlling influence of the Emerald Empress!

DC’s Green Team from FIRST ISSUE SPECIAL #2 was created by Joe Simon (Jack Kirby’s former partner) and Jerry Grandenetti,

The first actor to play Martian Manhunter died last week - David Ogden Stiers aka Major Winchester from MASH.

Backing up a bit to Cary's first comment, I think that no matter who you'd team with the android vision and "his Golden Age namesake," it should be noted that that hero would then have double Vision. #BadPunNoCookie

@Batman of Earth-13: Jerry Who?!

Jerry Grandenetti. He also co-created PREZ with Joe Simon. Here's the link to Mr. Grandenetti's Wikipedia page for more information. Thanks for your interest.

GOOD ONE, BOB! :-)

@B-13: Thanks for the link. Although, truth to tell, his drawings of the Green Team look more Kirby-esque while his artwork on PREZ looks more Ditko-esque.

But, at least he never made Batman look Robbins-and-Springer-esque!

I know. I thought that it would be amusing to re-use the name for this rather different line-up.
