Wow! Yet another concept here that I'd really love to read.
I presume that Roy Thomas "was" the writer?
My favorite version of these guys was in the Justice League animated series. I think the episode was called Patriot Act and the heroism of the non-powered heroes really shone. My only beef was that the Crimson Avenger didn't get much love--or even a spoken line--in the episode.
Weren't there really eight Seven Soldiers? Where's Wing?
Great job on this cover! Two awesome and unique teams. Roy Thomas would definitely be needed to do this story justice.
I always liked the iconic/historic aspect of the SSOV. On what other team did you have a knight, a cowboy, a Robin Hood stand-in and two guys wrapped in the American flag?
@ Dr. OTR: ever since the now classic JLA v. 1/#100-102, it's generally been understood that Wing martyred himself to save the rest of the SoV from the Nebula Man. And that like Bruce Wayne's parents, he will _NEVER_ come back to life!
P.S.---I wonder what Sir Justin meant by "...for the sake of two eras?" Did the 7 Soldiers get tossed into the Badoon-occupied 31st century? Inadvertently transposing the original Guardians of the Galaxy (Vance, Yondu, Martinex, and Charlie 27) throughout time? Meaning it's the Defenders who have to call on the humongous genie-like Oracle to send them to four different points in the past?
Sorry for the rampant speculation, Ross. But, that's the chance you take with such inspirational art work (i.e., making others cook up a lot of food for thought)!
