I have to imagine that Victor Von Doom holds a grudge against Doc Savage, ever since he stormed his castle with The Bondsmen back in STF #3790. How will Savage fare against the malevolent monarch now that he's all on his own?

As for Doc Savage being all on his own? Hardly! Nobody as big on team loyalty as Batman would allow a fellow Bondsman to languish in a Latverian dungeon. Not without having concocted several break-out scenarios already! My one hope is that any eventual sequel sees one such scenario being enacted by Batman and two new Bondsmen: the Spirit and the Rocketeer..
At least the Bondsmen had fun storming the castle.
That might be why this website was down all day, yesterday. Batman was hacking Doom's database trying to get weak points for the Great Escape!

@Anon: well, I stayed up till 2:00 AM trying my luck, to no avail. So, given that Ross posted today's cover @ 5:50 AM, service evidently wasn't restored until somewhere in that three-hour ball park.
I was so busy at work I did not notice. Glad it's working correctly now and hopefully it was a one time blogger glitch.

Doom does not stand a chance against Doc Savage. This is fitting as Will Murray, the man who continued Doc Savage's adventures in books, has passed on 8/24/26.
RIP, Mr. Murray. :-(
Did You Know?_ Among the crime-fighting 'mystery men' whose activities overlapped in time with those of Doc Savage during the 1930s (and in this case were published by the same company as his, Street & Smith) was a vigilante known as 'The Whisperer'... who was secretly Police Commissioner James Gordan!
Oops! "Gordon", with an 'o' rather than an 'a'.
Sadly, even Moonstone and Dynamite Entertainment never adapted him for their comics. And they've done some pretty good adaptations, in general, of those pulp-fiction characters!

That's probably because DC would have complained about his secret identity.
I don't see why. The Whisperer was created by Street and Smith at least three years before the publication of Detective Comics (v.1) #27! And Conde Nast still has intellectual property ownership rights of all Street and Smith characters (including the Whisperer's secret identity).
English translation? They have as much right to the "Jim Gordon" name as DC does (if not more so).
