Rick Jones Vs. Snapper Carr

I'm a little surprised that we have not seen Rick Jones show up in the MCU yet.  He seemed to be such a big part of the comics when I was growing up, sharing adventures right alongside The Hulk, Mar-Vell, The Avengers and more.  Snapper Carr, on the other hand, just seemed to be there, and did not add much to the Justice League of America tales that he appeared in.  The only time he made an impression on me was when he betrayed the team.  He was ok in the robotic Hourman series, but I have lost track of the character since then.

This was a great job of satisfying a request by a patron. Snapper was just as easily replaced on the first year Super Friends by Wendy & Marvin. Rick was good as an aid to a friend (since he had such a guilty conscience for getting Banner 'in trouble').

I hate both of them, the only time Carr wasn't annoying was JLA Year One

Yeah, Jones has barely been even gotten a reference in the MCU. I reckon he might appear in She Hulk

If this were a Silver Age Star Trek tale (from Gold Key Comics), it might very well have been entitled "Battle of the Red Jackets."

@Kevin from N'Orlins: we'll have to agree to permanently disagree. Rick Jones was definitely more pro-active with the Silver Age Avengers than Snapper Carr was with the contemporaneous* JLA. But, even then, Snapper did occasionally _save_ the Justice League's collective bacon. Most especially, during their first ever run-in with Despero!

*Always wanted to use that word!! :-)

Guess Carr got cocky having stolen Wonder Man's jacket. IMO, Carr was at his best in "The Return Of Anakronus" in a 100 Page Super-Spectacular of the Justice League Of America.

Have it on fair authority that Snapper got a job on the Daily Planet's web site and is doing well with his Carr-Toons!!

Nice cover Ross. This cover is even cooler when you realize this is post crisis Snapper and doesn't need the glove!

And the hits keep on coming! Did you already have this in your queue, Ross, or was this inspired by my comment the other day?

I think maybe the Infinity Gauntlet should get its own tag. If nothing else, it'll make it easier to do a "retrospective" in Issue #4000. I do wonder that Buzz Lightyear hasn't at least made reference to it! And what better artifact for Warehouse 13 and The Librarians to be vying over?

This was from your suggestion Bob! I moved it up in the queue so you and the others that wanted to see this pairing would not have to wait too long.

Do you remember the Kurt Busiek story (Young Justice?) where Rick and Snapper were talking on the phone, comparing the awful things that happened to them?

"Oh, your whole arm, huh?"

Don't count on it happening. Rick Jones has never appeared outside of the comics and cartoons. We've had two Hulk movies and a live-action series, plus numerous attempts at Captain America and Rick Jones hasn't appeared in any of them.

To acknowledge Rick puts a narrow focus on why he would be there. Not worth it and Bucky shields Cap already.

@ShadowWing and Tobor: maybe that's why Marvel allowed the violation of "Bucky Stays Dead" rule. They deemed Rick Jones not marketable enough for a crossover debut in the films.

It always seems to boil down to that, in Hollywood, doesn't it?

Carr did a stint in YOUNG JUSTICE shortly after the HOURMAN series, IIRC, and he wasn't bad there. I recall Snapper even having a conversation with Rick Jones in one issue, comparing recent injuries (Jones had just lost an arm in an issue of CAPTAIN MARVEL). PAD was writing both YOUNG JUSTICE and CAPTAIN MARVEL at the time.
