Despite the fact that Sony is sharing Spider-Man with Marvel, they seem determined to build their own Spidey Cinematic Universe. We know that there will be lots of returning villains from the previous Spider-Man movie incarnations appearing in the next film, but now rumors are swirling that their involvement will not end there. Apparently Jamie Foxx's Electro is now slated for a solo film, like Venom, Morbius and the rumored Kraven the Hunter movies. Once they have enough solo villain movies out, they will make a Sinister Six film, not sure that it will include Spider-Man or save that confrontation for a future big screen adventure. It will be interesting to see how many of these rumors come to pass.

Sony's push for making their own live-action Spiderverse has been the talk of the industry almost since Venom was confirmed. I think it was Kevin Feige who once described Spider-Man as having the superpower of being able to exist in multiple universes (that's a severe paraphrasing). If I'm understanding remarks from Amy Pascal correctly, Sony will be building their own circle of events, trying to treat them as much as they can as if they're happening inside the MCU without stepping on Disney's toes. Certainly the "Spider-Verse" aspects of this next Spider-Man film is playing in to the multiverse angle of Marvel Phase 4 & 5, though what that means for Venom, Morbius, and other Sony films remains to be revealed.
And several Sony Pictures people, including Amy Pascal, have said that they've wanted to do a Spider-Man versus Sinister Six movie since they first started doing Spider-Man movies.
That's something that might sound better conceptually than it would be in reality. The third Raimi Spiderman movie suffered from "too many villains" syndrome and I fear that a Sinister Six movie might be that doubled.
If they do come to pass, you could use most everyone's first reaction as your next Electro-pun title.

@emsley: The "too many villains" problem in Spider-Man 3 was a problem because the villains were working separately, so each had his own story to work through. The Sinister Six working together would be just one story (with individual arcs serving as plot points within that story).
@Bob: Even that doesn't sound possible, non-conceptually.
