Animal Man Vs. Aliens
We had fun speculating what would happen if Deadman attempted to take over a werewolf in STF #3105, now I pose the question - what happens if Animal Man tries to absorb the abilities of a Xenomorph? Would he be able to go toe to toe with one of them or would their ability to overtake a host body lead to complications for good old Buddy Baker? I'm not sure what the effects would be, but it would be fun to find out.

I feel like a xenomorph, being wholly not of this Earth, would not be eligible for Buddy's powers to replicate.
But thinking about powers that absorb or replicate other powers has me wondering about a team-up or battle between the superhero that could have any secret identity, CAPTAIN UNIVERSE, and the secret identity that could be any hero, DIAL H FOR HERO!
i'm not sure, but I think they did that. Buddy was in space and had to try using alien animal abilities. Course, the same question could be asked, could he do a sea animal - like a octopus? Or how about a Kryptonian dog's abilities while on Earth?
Stunning cover.
Could you ask that same question in a meeting between Supergirl's cat Streaky and A.L.F.? Hah!
Now there's a thought. Buddy uses the H-Dial for multiple problems at once to become The Baker's Dozen. (Thank you Crazy Ivan.)
Sounds like a sequel to Blake’s 11
I think it's usually spelled "ALF", not "A.L.F.".
He was going thru an extended period.
Another "Shut up and take my money" moment!
I'm not much of a fan of either Animal Man or the Xenomorphs, but I'd grab this comic in a hot minute. Of course Buddy will prevail in the end, because he's the story's hero, but the real question is how he gets the job done -- and most likely he barely survives in the attempt.
As for whether Animal Man can mimic a Xenomorph's powers, I think the answer lies in what level of intelligence they have. While Tobor's correct about mimicking the abilities of alien animals, I don't think he can mimic the abilities of sapient creatures (such as Superman or J'Onn J'Onzz).
Also, I'll second Ivan's Captain Universe/Dial H for Hero team-up suggestion, as well as Horsefeathers' Streaky vs. ALF.
Animal Man once duplicated the ability of an octopus, to project a cloud of ink, back when he was still a member of the Forgotten Heroes.
With regard to xenomorphs, though? I think we should remember that there's a big difference between an animal's abilities and its physical characteristics. For example: he might be able to duplicate the jaw-stretching of a xenomorph. But, only by (no doubt painfully) stretching his own! As he doesn't have a secondary set of jaws attached to a glorified radula.
And that goes double for a xenomorph's primary attributes! While Animal Man's blood might become corrosively acidic, I doubt his epidermis would become polarized chitin.
I like the Animal Man vs Aliens idea. When he was in space, he was able to mimic several alien animals so the xenomorph aliens should be no problem. And as someone mentioned up above, I would like DC to try have Animal Man try and duplicate some alien animals that have come to Earth like Krypto or Streaky. Even Titano would be something.
Also, when Ross mentioned on the first page about Deadman possessing a werewolf it got me to thinking... could Animal Man tap into a werewolf? ... and what would that do to Animal Man?

I've never followed Animal Man, but I remember a scene about a decade ago -- perhaps in the Justice League or Justice Society? -- where he appeared, with a group of other heroes who were having problems. (This might have tied in whatever flavor-of-the-day Crisis was going on.) And at that point, Buddy could *only* draw on powers from non-earthly animals, as I recall. (He was also eating meat, without even realizing that he'd stopped being a vegetarian until someone -- Jason Rusch of Firestorm? -- pointed it out.)
Maybe that version of Animal Man was secretly a Space Phantom from Earth-7642.
Which would probably make him a cinch to win any "Limbo" contests.
