The Kingpin Vs. The Creeper



The Creeper is a character that I think would be a good candidate for an animated show on DC's streaming service.  Let's face it, his look would be very tough to pull off in live action, but I really liked his appearance on Batman: The Animated Series.  That show gave his origin a connection to The Joker, so maybe they could stick with that idea and have him appear on Harley Quinn to test the waters.  I think a tabloid TV show host by day / superhero by night could have a lot of potential for fun story lines.

I think that the Creeper could fit into the "Arrowverse" pretty well but even as a BIG fan of the character I've got to admit that his "look" wouldn't translate well to live action.

Would love to see him teamed here with Captain America. Hard to think of two more different characters from a stylistic standpoint, but the similarity in origins is interesting. (Both getting their powers from a formula created by a scientist who gets killed almost immediately.)

If DC's brass wanted to try him out in live action, they could drop him in for a guest or recurring role on the new Batwoman show. I have the same misgivings about making any variation of his look work for live action, but folks have been wrong before (I'm still amazed that the designers over at Marvel kept true to Loki's look without making him look stupid in that helmet).

Regarding this cover, I think it's one of your better works. Kingpin's speech bubble is particularly fitting here, but I also echo what was said the other day about how hard it has to be to find art pieces that mesh well together.

Yea the origins are pretty similar and would not be surprised that Ditko was thinking about that when he helped create the Creeper.

Hero looks are rarely translated well to TV and Movies. Too many producers have their own ideas (i.e. X-Men and joke made at comics "yellow spandex" which turned me off movie).

Personally, I didn't miss the yellow spandex. In a live-action film, they would've made Hugh Jackman look more like Siamese Cat Man! Same thing with a live-action Creeper. The yellow face paint and green wig might work in live-action. But, the rest of the mad clown outfit only works on the comic page or in cartoon animation.

Does Vincent D'Onofrio do animation voice-over work? His Kingpin rants were some of the best stuff in season 1 of Netflix's Daredevil show, and from the trailer, he seems to be in fine form for season 3.

Normally I would agree with both of you about how the Creeper's look would not fit on today's tv but after Saturday's reveal of how comic's accurate Lobo looks for the second season of Krypton and how some cosplay fans costumes from the last few years have gotten incredibly accurate I now think the Creeper's look would translate quite well to tv.

@Scott: comparing Lobo to the Creeper is like comparing apples to oranges. Irrelevant; due to the fact that the Creeper's look is not an inherent racial characteristic the way Lobo's Czarnian physiology is.

Who is comparing? I am just saying since they now have a comics accurate Lobo for live tv and it looks good they can have a comics accurate Creeper for live tv and it would look good also.

They should just go ahead and do a Creeper cartoon. With the right animation and voice work it could be amazing.
