The Fantastic Four and The New Teen Titans

It looks like the Disney/Fox deal will be finalized by the end of the year, so Marvel can soon start making plans for all the characters they will now have the rights to use. The Fantastic Four is the property that I am most interested in.  Is it too much to hope for a post credits scene after Avengers 4 teasing their arrival?  I already have such a scene in my head - A news report about an experimental spacecraft, "The Fantastic" that crashed back to Earth with no sign of its four-member crew.  As shots of the wreckage appear, the reporter asks the camera, "What has become of The Fantastic Four?" Fade to black.

I saw someone posit a situation in which the Fantastic Four and X-Men come over from their own universes, with Reed Richards and the Beast trying to explain what's happened to Tony Stark in long, psuedoscience terms, only for Deadpool to pop up and say "Disney bought Fox", to everyon'e bafflement.

@ Kevin Green -- That sounds like something Fred Hembeck would do. I always got a kick out of his strips in the Daily Planet in the back of the DC books. Also, of course, there was the What If issue that he drew a lot of (#34, I think, the all humor issue).

@ Ross - Great idea to end the 4th Avengers movie.

"What has happened to the Fantastic Four?"

They got exiled to the Negative Zone after the abysmal box office failure of their needless third flick.

@Mickey - Don't forget his Page in Marvel Age :D That was my first exposure to Hembeck

Where's Raven?

Ross, that ending to IW2 is BRILLIANT. I figured that it would be a good chance to get the X-Men and Fantastic Four into the MCU (and maybe even a couple others

ITEM: Y'know, Wolfman and Perez did both books. They could handle this crossover nicely.

UNKNOWN - no sign of Raven. Or Kid Flash. Or Changeling or Kole or Jericho. There's only so much room on a cover, my friend!

Maybe Franklin's not the only person the cover heroes are looking for.

Changeling is there as a bird.

That post credit scene would be so RAD !!!

Oooh...how about a Raven/Phoenix cover?! With Trigon battling the X-men?!!
(Sorry if you've already done one...)

I think that your setting of that PCS is rad, though the timing is a bit early -- quite a bit. The earliest that Marvel Studios could have a F4 movie ready would be 2021, and more likely 2022.

That scene of yours fits with my idea of an opening scene for the F4 film: the ship, the Fantastic, is crashed somewhere in the forest. The crew lay unconscious. As we see their powers begin to manifest in little spurts (Johnny with little flames here and there, Sue fading in and out of visibility, etc.), we see small "flashback" clips of how they got there.

Of course, they soon regain consciousness, Ben turns into the Thing full-time, and as they go for help they come across the Mole Man (to echo the team's first adventure in the comics).

That's how I'd do it, anyway.

When Robin finally becomes Nightwing on the Titans show on DC Universe, I hope to God they don't use this so-80's costume.

Another benefit to Marvel gaining the FF film rights is that Marvel will also get the rights to use Kang, who was tied up with the FF rights. So now I want to see a movie of the Avengers versus Kang, who will have altered history, and we see the Avengers battling Kang across multiple alternate versions of the present. After battling Kang across time, the Avengers finally defeat him and set history back on its right course, and they're all glad that everything is back to normal ... and then the camera pulls back, and the heroes are all wearing their proper Silver-Age-comic-book costumes.

And then Hawkeye calls Cap "Methuselah."

@ Mike Shirley: Yes, I had forgotten about that. I think, though, that one of the most memorable strips was the one stating that Kirk Langstrom (Man-Bat) had hired a butler. That butler's name was Fred-Al Another was the Flash asking Adam STrange how he got to Earth so fast, and Adam replied, "I Rann."

I just got back from seeing VENOM, today. Woefully under-attended... and I can understand why. It was even worse than CATWOMAN 2004!

On the plus side? I did get to see previews for the upcoming "Capt. Marvel" and "Shazam" movies. The latter will apparently be mixing the Golden Age origin with the modern one. While the former will apparently be mixing the 1980's Ms. Marvel origin with the initial amnesia of the Binary origin.

@Jay Johnson: would you prefer a a black-and-gray costume offset by a yellow cape (with matching gloves, boots and capital letter "N")?

Jay Johnson said...

Nope. I actually prefer the one that's close to the "Batman Beyond" costume with the red insignia.

Split the difference, guys. Hope for an Eighties Nightwing suit...with a red bat insignia on the chest.

P.S.---I can't help wondering if Raven was mind-controlled into abducting Franklin. If so, by whom? Mandrill; the Puppet Master; Dr. Psycho?
