Superman and Rogue

Now that the X-Men films have had a soft reboot, I wonder if we will see a more comics-accurate verion of Rogue sometime down the line.  The Anna Paquin version was kind of a Rogue/Kitty Pride hybrid and didn't have a lot in common with her comic counterpart other than her mutant abilities.  I'd like to see the reformed villain verion of the character that was full of confidence and attitude.  Maybe if the Gambit film ever gets off the ground, she will show up there.

If you started buying comics in the early 1980s, part of the fun of this blog is seeing if Ross will use one of the covers of comics you brought in your youth. I'll admit I was never a fan of Superman's comics or the art of Curt Swan (both boring and corney compared to Batman even back then) and i was always disappointed when I gave them another chance. Still, its nice to see this cover again. Like meeting an old friend.

YES! You're most natural pairing, yet! :-D

Thank you, Ross.

Rogue vs. Parasite... that would be something I'd definitely pay to see. Nice work, Ross!

@Anonymous #1: I was never an avid Silver Age Superman reader, myself. But, Curt Swan's illos of him were second only to Jack Kirby's! The only thing that _might_ have made them seem "boring and corny" was the dialogue. As the Comics Code Authority seemed to be allergic to contractions.

Swan's art was fantastic for the time and a classic today !

I loved both his Superman and Adventure Comics masterpieces !

How about Duplicate Boy v Nemesis Kid ?

Gideion and the Super- Adaptiod v both of the above ?

D.B and N.K. are from the same company and Ross usually tries to team up characters from different companies - although it would be an interesting pairing.

Duplicate Boy (who could duplicate anybody else's powers) vs. Nemesis Kid (whose body automatically developed whatever powers he needed to defeat his opponent)? I think NK would explode, as his body tried to come up with a power to defeat itself!

Holy smokes, now THAT'S a crossover! Beautiful choices, great design, and Curt Swan because Curt Swan!!! And Rogue vs Parasite... just to see Jensen collapse with the weight of Carol Danvers' anguished memories would be worth the price of admission!

You usually do lovely work, but this one is outstanding! Well done!

Thanks, ELS!

This is the version of Rogue that I started with and continue to favor to this day. Confident. Attitude. Unabashedly Southern. And enough personality that she didn't have to be a sex kitten. Those were the days. I'm showing my age. Thanks for this one!

Would Rogue be able to absorb from an absorber? I remember an X-men reprint where the Mimic battled the Super-Adaptoid! And they proved mutually incapable of imitating each other's collective abilities.

1974 was a great issue. Could Rogue have a go at Parasite?
