The Wasp and Insect Queen

Like many readers I always kind of preferred Lana Lang over Lois Lane as a love interest for Superman.  Maybe it was because she treated him nice even when he was in his Clark Kent guise, whereas Lois could often be cruel and dismissive.  I'm not sure how much she has to do with the Supermine line of comics these days, now that his time as Superboy has been written out of continuity.

I still believe that there was a Smallville and Superboy. Pete Ross and Lana Lang. Although, Kristen Kreuk's Lana was more "Veronica" than "Betty" on Smallville...the show kind of did her a disservice start to finish...

After the original COIE, Lana Lang was basically relegated to having been nothing more than a glorified foster sister who only liked Clark "as a friend."

What most would-be boyfriends refer to as the Kiss of Death. ;-)

My compliments on your artistry. Silver Age Lana was always a hottie in that curvaceous Insect Queen outfit.

I'm talking S--T--ACKED!

Although not quite as hot as Mary Jane Watson was when she was the Amalgam universe's version of Insect Queen...

I've been waiting on an Insect Queen appearance here. Short of putting her in an ad hoc team, teaming her with the Wasp is probably the best idea.

I always thought that letting Lana be a "part-time" superheroine was kind of silly, but still worked in its own way. I especially enjoyed her occasional appearance as an LSH auxiliary.

IIRC, it was the other way around. According to John Byrne's Man of Steel, at the prom, Lana thought Clark was going to propose, but instead he told her about his powers, and that he was leaving Smallville, knowing that he could trust her as his best friend.

BTW, where did Ramona Fradon draw Insect Queen? I like it, but I don't remember it.

Must have been a commission.

"The Sting of Rejection" I've said it before, and I'll say it again: one of the things I like most about your covers is the witty story titles.

@ Simreeve: Teen Titan Lilith, in her Canary Cottage Disco outfit, was sexier than even both those ladies, put together!

I commissioned Ramona Fradon for this Lana Lang/Insect Queen drawing in 2008, and it's posted in the Ramona Fradon section of my Comic Art Fans (CAF) gallery.
