Green Arrow and Rawhide Kid

I always liked it when the superhero comics I read would cross over into other genres like horror or western.  I loved when the JLA went back in time to meet up with Jonah Hex, Bat Lash, Cinnamon and others.  I thought that Hawkeye and Two-Gun Kid's friendship in the pages of The Avengers was a great concept as well.

I recognize the cover that Green Arrow is from! Woot!
The time-travel stories were pretty cool. I must now dig out my copy of - Justice Riders is it? The Elseworlds graphic novel with the Justice League set in the Old West.

Ross, excellent cover!

By the way, have you ever considered Galactus VS Anti-Monitor? That would be awesome!

I could swear the stampede was a slight revision of the GA/Black Canary/Johnny Thunder team-up in JLA (v.1) #102.

Talking of the Two-Gun Kid's time-travelling adventures, do you remember when Access found himself out in the 'wild west' sorting out an accidental crossover between the Kid and Jonah Hex, and while Access was working out how to explain himself & his costume the Kid blithely -- to Access's great surprise -- enquired whether he was from the future?

That Avengers story wherein Hawkeye, Thor and Moondragon teamed up with Two-Gun Kid, Rawhide Kid, Kid Colt, the Phantom Rider and Ringo Kid (while the other Avengers are fighting the Squadron Supreme in the present) is my all-time favorite Avengers story. It's funny because I've read interviews with Steve Englehart who wrote these epics, and he claims that he was flying by the seat of his pants and making these stories up as he went along. Then you read stories about today where the Marvel editors and writers hold summits to plan the next big "event". And yet Englehart's stories hold together better and are much more seamless. Go figure....
