Captain Marvel and Thor

This seems like a natural pairing.  They both have incredible powers granted from the gods and like to call down the lightning.  They divide their time between their heroic personas and their non-powered human identities (well, Thor used to anyway).  Their personalities are quite different though, with the regal Thor and the unassuming Billy Batson, so that could make for some fun conflict.  I do think that Billy could probably lift Thor's hammer, if given the chance.

My first thought was that they might have met in the JLA/Avengers crossover, but I don't think Marvel was a JLA member in the comics. But you're right, they are of a piece, with magic words and power talismans and all.
Nice job!

Not only is this another great, natural team-up, but the offered story looks like it would be a fun one to read. Well done!

Capt Marvel and Thor did battle it out in the DC Vs Marvel event miniseries of the 1990s. If I recall (as I don't have the issue in front of me at the moment) it was written by Peter David, and before they fought, both prayed in their own ways for strength. I think David had Thor win.

Some good news... Variety reports the Shazam movie is still in development (my blog has the details).

I agree with this! The scenario that had been brewing in my head has Thor throwing Mjolnir at Cap and then Cap catching it.

Yes, Thor did win in the DC vs. Marvel mini, because he learned that Cap got his powers due to the magic thunder and lightning, which is "by his grace", and so he made the lightning turn Captain Marvel back into Billy.

id still like thundercats trying to recruit tigra or cheetara vs cheetah

also mockingbird vs black canary or bat girl or huntress

......or Mjolnir could turn Capt. Marvel into another Thor.

I gotta' agree that possibly Billy could lift Thor's hammer. I mean of he's worthy enough to be bestowed the powers of Shazam/Captain Marvel, then....why not.

I used to have the Thor/Captain marvel fight issue too, and at the time I more or less agreed with the decision at the time. I'd prefer to see a lengthier bout between these two though, one that would bounce them from Asgard to the Rock of Eternity, back to earth.

Good match up.

How about a Billy Batson / Dr. Donald Blake cover?
