Hawkman and Captain Action

Captain Action seemed mythical to me as a kid.  I was fascinated that he could transform into characters from multiple different comic companies.  I saw the ads for the action figures and was aware that there was a comic book at some point, but never once did I see either on sale in person.

H. H. HORSEFEATHERS here and there when I say EBAY for shopping for Action's way. Or would you prefer a different Hol way? What would his counterparts be like on multi Earths?

@Horace Feathers: he'd probably become Captain Multiverse in order to take on Mr. Universe. In fact, that's probably just what these egg-headed cyclopes are. A cult that literally worships Mr. Universe!

@Ross: you're a genius!

I had a Cap action fig plus the Batman and Aquaman costumes. My brother had Superman. I also bought the comics, awesome Gil Kane art, very epic feel.

I remember Captain Action (very vaguely) as being DC, the same as Hawkman...

In fact, I think I actually bought a couple of them...

I think Cary may be correct in his explanation of the BBH.

@Davejonz: it was a DC-licensed limited series. So, they were only able to show Capt. Action taking on his arch-enemy in the guise of Superman.

Captain Action looks like he should team up with the Blackhawks.

Yes this seems to break his "no double team-ups from the same company" rule. Capt. Action always looked like he was a Blackhawks member to me any way. Maybe there will be a connection made between them someday.

^ Great minds think alike today I guess with my Blackhawks remark made up above LOL.

@all my namesakes: maybe someday Ross can give us Captain Action and Action Jackson. The former was made by Ideal and the latter made by Mego. So, Ross wouldn't be violating his "no two action figures from the same toy company" rule.

Man, those BBH guys look weird. Must've been silver age.

We need a Captain Action and the original Mr Terrific team-up.

Non-Related Suggestion: Alpha Flight and the Omega Men - title The Beginning and the End.
Could use the first appearance of the Omega Men in the trees on that GL cover and replace Hal Jordan and Carol Ferris with the the Alpha Flight - though you can hardly see them in silhouette it makes for a good boreal Canadian forest.

Karter is an intergalactic policeman..this should be right up his beat. Capt Acion could team with Dial H and wind up with 2 different versions of the same hero in use!!

They were from a promotional mini-comic that accompanied each purchase of either the action figures or the costume packages.

It looks like a Star War riddle: "What do you get when Emperor Palpatine crosses a hoojib with an Abyssin?"

Carycomic said...

@Davejonz: these aliens were created strictly for a promotional mini-comic that came with the Ideal-made accessories.

@Lucky Day: failing that, I'd love to see the Omega Men team up with the Alien Legion against Mr. Universe.

Sounds great!
