Magnus: Robot Fighter and Swamp Thing

These two heroes may not have much in common with one another, but it would be cool to see them fight side by side.  All it would take is the right kind of adversary to bring them together.  I think that these mechanical menaces would fit the bill nicely.

Aliens can burn off Swamp Thing trying to 'stuff' them. More of a challenge for our heroic pair.Great idea Ross!!

Magnus would certainly be a fish-out-of-water in a story like this. Especially as Earth was usually depicted as looking more like Coruscant in his original Gold Key stories! And particularly intriguing is the question of just who these robotic terraformers are. Time-traveling invaders from Magnus' era (circa the 41st century)? Or present-day predecessors of the Borg?

Thanks for another thought-provoking cover, Ross. :-)

What's to say that this takes place in present day? It stands to reason that, as a literal force of nature, Swamp Thing could still be around in the 41 century. In the same spirit, these robots could be low-level minions of Ultron.

Interesting title! Makes me wonder, have you ever considered using the Purge franchise in any of your creations? I can think of several characters that it would be interesting to see involved in the activities of Purge night, but I'm not sure if you're familiar with it or not.

Ben, Never seen any of those flicks, not a big horror fan overall.

Why not make it even simpler, Bob? These guys are the masters of the mecha-hounds from STF #2325 (@ 8/25/18)!

@Ross: with regard to that particular film franchise, you're literally missing nothing!

@Bob Greenwade: I suppose the jungles of the Savage Land could still exist. Even at the South Pole of an ecumenopolis like North Am!

@Anon1228: most likely! Although, given the transparent skull caps they're wearing, I'd say the mecha-hounds' owners are more like organic brains in robotic bodies. Sort of like bipedal versions of the Bomarr monks from Tattooine!

And, furthermore, they're probably cyborg descendants of Doc Hopper looking for Kermit the Frog (see STF #4364).

P.S.---how about a reunion between Magnus and the Metal Men? It's been 4,900 issues since their first (and, thus far, only) meeting!

:-O

How about Magnus meeting Dynomutt & Blue Falcon while battling Dyno-foes Iron Head & Tin Kong?

It would no doubt achieve a lot of Valiant Acclaim. ;-)

How about DC’s Damage (looks a bit like the Thing) going up against Thor??

Guest-starring Damage Control?
