Tron and The Vision

The original Tron is one of my favorite films of my youth.  Tron: Legacy had some interesting visuals, but was kind of a disappointment to me.  Now we are seeing trailers for Tron: Ares, and I'm not sure how the film will turn out.  I do like the idea of characters from the game world entering our reality, thought.  I hope this one does the property justice.

YES! I want an adult ticket to the Opening Day matinee. Oops! Thought I was talking to Fandango, for a second.

Seriously, though; while I understand why they had to turn Tron into a brainwashed enforcer for the sequel (Boxleitner was a whole lot older, you know), Disney didn't do too badly with the new plot elements. Both the sentient energy beings called isomorphic algorithms...and the concept that physical reality and virtual reality might just be differently-named sides of the same two-headed coin!

Come to think of it; wasn't there a syndicated series, back in the early Nineties, that postulated that? A situation "dramedy" where Christopher Lloyd (pre-Nobody 2) was trying to conquer the world with an army of video game villains?

Yeah, that was DEADLY GAMES. A one-season wonder from the now-defunct UPN (United Paramount Network). It was half-way decent. Although, probably not memorable enough to be fondly called a cult-classic.

Not bad!

Now, if you can do a sequel to STF #622 (from Dec. 2013 ), you will have made my day.

UPN... I remember it well. Visions of so many great... and fair shows.
