Liberty Belle and The Invaders

Happy 4th of July!

It looks like the Disney/Fox merger is about to finally go through, which mean there should be no obstacle to using The Human Torch (be it Storm or Hammond) in the movies.  I understand the Namor has a similar situation with The Hulk's - rights issues mean he can't have a solo film, but can appear as a guest star.  Given the fact that we only saw the bulk of Captain America's war years in a brief montage, there's no reason we can't have an Invaders movie now.   Let's hope it's something that Marvel Studios considers one of these days.

I so wish that either DC or Marvel was currently doing a superhero book set during World War II.

Cool cover.

I was more into Roy Thomas's All-Star Squadron than his Invaders. Even so, I need to go back and get both titles. Good stuff!

Yeesh! All these mergers make me dizzy. I mean, think about it!

You've got a prime-time soap opera, based on characters owned by Archie Comics, appearing on a network now owned by Disney which also owns Marvel Comics. Yet, telecasting a series based on a nocturnal Time-Warner character that DC has been publishing nearly as long as Superman!

At this rate, young Bruce Wayne might yet be meeting a Namor pastiche called "Neptune" Perkins.

Hammond? Related to Hector?

Riverdale airs on CW, a Warner company (owners of DC Comics).

@my namesake: Nope! That was the Golden Age Human Torch's adopted alias while working for the NYPD (back when Marvel Comics was still known as "Timely").

@Answer Man: at the rate with which series jump networks, these days (a la: Season 2 of "Supergirl"), that might not be the case for long.

I, too, would love to see at least one Invaders movie, if Chris Evans (and probably Sebastian Stan) can be talked into it.

The final Anonymous comment above made me think that a issue featuring heroes who are cops in their private lives might be interesting. Offhand I can think of Jim Hammond (the Human Torch), Jim Harper (the Guardian), Jim Corrigan (the Spectre) ... whoa, all these guys are named Jim!! That's an interesting theme right there: cops named Jim who are also superheroes! You could call their team ... the Jim-nists? (Or, you could expand it to non-Jims, throwing in Barry Allen, Renee Montoya ... I'm betraying my relative ignorance of non-DC characters here, but I'm sure you can think of a ton. Come to think of it, the entire cast of Moore's Top Ten would be appropriate -- they all have super powers!)

...for Dr. OTR above...you forgot JIM Gordon who is a cop and was the (iron) Batman for awhile...
Ross you are truly a god amongst mere mortals to be able to pull this all together every day with such high quality always...
Thank You very much for all you do to bring all of us the plesure and joy we derive from your fun and fine creations...

I was trying to be more subtle than saying, hey Ross how about the golden age torch and hector Hammond!

Dr.OTR, if you could find eleven of them, they could play Jim-iny Cricket.
