It should come as no surprise that I have been a fan of comic crossovers since I was a kid. I can remember seeing an ad for Strange Tales #120 which featured The Human Torch fighting side by side with Iceman from the X-Men. I had never seen those heroes with such opposite abilities in one story together before and I was fascinated by the concept. It would be decades before I actually tracked down a copy of that issue - and it was worth the wait!
Long time followers of this blog know that the dialogue on this cover refers to the events of STF #573...

One of the "best" moments in JLA/Avengers was when The Flash crossed over and realized that A) There was no Speed Force in the Marvel Universe; and 2) Heroes were not well-liked in the Marvel Universe. It was kind of funny to see him get beat up by an angry mob...

Freezerburn is a character from Image's Wildguard comics....

Still, knowing he's the one who first brought Marv Wolfman to Earth-STF, I gotta say: "Shame on you, Barry!"
A pokemon that's a fire and ice type (maybe based on Ymir (at least from Marvel Comics, if not the public domain) may have been a fit in the Sun and Moon games, as a link between the original forms of vulpix and ninetales (fire), and the Alolan forms (ice and ice/fairy, respectively).
The hot and cold running Flash has to come from an issue where he faced Heat Wave and Captain Cold.
At first, I thought I recognized the Flash illustration as being from The Flash #140, which indeed featured Flash being attacked simultaneously by Captain Cold and Heat Wave. But a closer look at Barry told me that such was not the case. Where'd you get it, Ross?

To Anonymous 3: Ymir (at least in Marvel Comics) was sired from the cold of Niflheim and the fiery heat of Muspelheim.

All I know about Ymir is that his decapitated head was put in a well. And Odin had to sacrifice one of his eyes to gain wisdom from the former.t

That was Mimir, not Ymir: Different person altogether...
@Simreeve: are you sure about that? I thought that was the name of the TV series starring Jerry Mathers back in the early Sixties.
