Wow, have I really never paired these two together before? Well they did both appear as members of one of STF's very first hero teams, The Black Beauties way back in STF #299 in 2013. Still, it's high time they shared a cover together again. They also appeared as guest stars in STF #2491 with Iron Man and Starman...
And I love that it's just the two of them! As opposed to their being buried in the background of too big a super-team.
ReplyDeleteor alternatively, as partners of thier bow slinging former beau's.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is high time that these two were featured on a cover together. I think this is even a different Black Canary than was a member of the Black Beauties, so it really is a first for them.
ReplyDeleteWeird thought while falling asleep last night: Matter-Eater Lad vs. The Inedible Hulk.
A quiet night for them. i wonder if they do a lot of sparring together to stay sharp?
ReplyDeleteProbably hurt each other in practice than in efforts like these.
They didn't, by any chance, borrow the Green Hornet's car, did they?

Ross, does that include. issue 2491? 2/7/2019
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of such surprises, I started on Freakazoid yesterday on Tubi (leaving soon, for anyone interested), and looked on here to see how much you've used him... shockingly, only one!? And that was way back in 2015, on Christmas Eve? Don't you think maybe it's time for a return to the STF-verse, maybe trying to join Young Justice or the New Warriors, or maybe hanging out with Ambush Bug, the Ninja Turtles, or Calvin and Hobbes?
ReplyDeleteMaybe you could take one of this year's upcoming months & feature double female covers on all of the even dates for something different in 2023.
ReplyDeleteThis would still allow you to comment on the overwhelming male projects coming out this year on the odd dates for example (upcoming films, tv shows, comic events, merchandise, etc.) :)
^ Doing this for months like Sept. & Nov. would allow you plenty of planning time to take any stress off the proposal.
ReplyDelete@Ben: Freakazoid totally could make a trio with Ambush Bug and Deadpool. He'd also be an interesting mismatch with the Punisher, Spawn, or Witchblade.
ReplyDeleteThe odds would be more even if he was backed up by the Nelvana-animated version of the Mask. ---Carycomic
