Moon Knight Vs. Deathstroke in: "Crashing the Assassination!"

I've been meaning to feature a cover that combines images by the amazing Bill Sienkiewicz for a while now.  Nothing ever quite came together because his unique style it tougher to blend than most, even with himself. I'm definitely not 100% satisfied with how this one came out, but I am glad I finally gave it a try.

Moon Knight first encountered Deathstroke in STF #2386...

  1. Not to worry, Ross. Just tweak the artwork to represent the optical distortion caused by interdimensional teleportation! In this case, to the vicinity of the Gemworld kingdom of House Moonstone. Perhaps as part of a revenge plot by Eclipso.

If nothing else, Moon Knight's disappearance would certainly prove an irresistible mystery for Elongated Man's nose!---Cary

P.S.---did you know that, in the French Wold Newton Universe, the characters of Rocambole and Harry Dickson were once involved with a group called "Les Chevaliers de Lune"?

  2. Moon Knight looks like he's carrying something in his left hand. This kind of contest seems straightforward. Two altered individuals. But for some reason, it makes me think of The Impossible Missions Force vs Scooby-Doo and the gang. It's never quite what you expect it to be.

  3. Don't worry, Ross. To my eye, this blended just fine.

  4. Personally, Bill S. is the major reason I gave up on comic books (besides the soaring price). I always found his art style muddy, difficult to interpret, and unpleasant to look at. But apparently mine is a minority opinion. But imo he is definitely no Jack Kirby or - perhaps more aptly - Steve Ditko.

  5. @Jason T: I feel the same way about the two Franks (Springer and Robbins). The artwork they did for their 1970's run on Detective Comics made even the Batman look like the Scarecrow! And not in a good way.

  6. I think it's one of your better 2023 covers so far & the images work well together as do
the characters (it's also nice to see Moon Knight break out of his Ralph Dibney comfort zone).

Maybe you could keep Bill's images separate by using such tricks as magical energies, multiple computer screens,
or even time/dimensional barriers to getting the team-ups that you desire. Hope to see more of Bill's artwork in '23 on here. :)

  7. P.S. @ Det. Tobor: I mean, Marvel did at least one comic book prequel to Tom Cruise's first MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE movie. So there should be plenty of illo-captures that can be used for blending in with Inferior Five illustrations.

  8. Better late than never department: Could we see a Heroes with Hoods page? Perhaps featuring Cloak, Green Arrow, Moon Knight, Obi Wan, Ragman, Raven and the The Spectre? Apologies to anyone I left out.
