I haven't heard anything new about it in a few years, so I am not sure if there are still plans underway for Arnold Schwarzenegger to return to the role of Conan on the big screen. I hope it's just a slow moving process because I would love to see this film actually come to pass. An elderly King Conan maintaining order in Cimmeria has some cool story potential.
Wonder Woman and Conan shared a comic book adventure back in STF #1336...
I know I over-use this word a lot. But, I can't think of any other that does this cover-sim justice.
ReplyDeleteAWESOME! :-D
P.S.---This might've already been suggested by Bob Greenwade (and others). But, how about Conan-meets-Xena, next?
ReplyDeleteThe idea of teaming up Lynda Carter with The Arnold has a lot of period potential, and should/would make for an interesting story.
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree about the idea of a movie with an elderly Conan. I do think he got old in the original novels, and seeing an adaptation of one of those later tales would be quite interesting.
As for a Xena/Conan crossover, I don't think I've ever thought of it before, but the idea's a good one. I'll give my support!
(Though a Carter/Lawless photo cover would be more fitting, and more fun, to my mind.)

ReplyDeleteAs usual, I should've checked first.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I'm waiting for Gal Gadot...to appear on a cover alongside Lucy Lawless. ;-)
ReplyDeleteP.S. @ BG: I vaguely recall that the very first Conan story, published in REH's lifetime, dealt with him and his son, Prince Conn of Aquilonia, putting down a rebellion masterminded by the shapeshifting Serpent Men! Did Roy Thomas ever adapt that for Marvel Comics?
ReplyDeleteAnother suggestion: the Spectre and Man-Thing
ReplyDeleteHere's a thought: Pair Detective Chimp with a stalwart who has yet to appear on this blog: Marmaduke!
ReplyDeleteIn the comics there was a Wonder Woman/Conan crossover limited series a few years ago, before Conan returned to Marvel. Not bad.
ReplyDelete(and back in the '70s there was, although I've never read it, a two-issue storyline in WW's own comic -- during her 'Emma Peel phase, IIRC -- in which she & Catwoman were somehow transported to the world of 'Nehwon' to team up with Fafhrd & the Grey Mouser (whom DC themselves were then publishing).
Spectre and Man-Thing have met twice on the blog already.
ReplyDeleteMarmaduke and Detective Chimp it is, then.
ReplyDeleteThe first Conan story has him in his forties and King of Aquilonia. He defeats an attempt to assassinate him by some rival nobles while a sorcerer sends a demon after him to kill him.
ReplyDeleteThe story is The Phoenix on the Sword.
That's the one! Thanks TMIB. :-)
