The Thing and Hawkman & Hawkgirl

This is the Thing's third outing with Hawkman.  They first appeared together in a MTIO cover from my MS Paint days, then they had a classic adventure in STF #3632. I thought that it was time for Hawkgirl to get in on the action.

  1. oh i so want that comic !
it’s one of those bizarre moments that the silver age was blessed with..
i thought it has got to be one where The Doom Patrol and Challengers of the unknown were not available…

  2. I found the original splash page at https://darkworldsquarterly.gwthomas.org/plant-monsters-in-the-house-of-mystery/ You need to scroll down a bit. I think the sky in the STF version looks much better.

  3. It looks like Floro and Plantman have teamed up in mutating a sunflower from Superman's home state.

    1. Either that; or Bentley Wittman and William Azard (the Wizards of the Frightful Four and Injustice Society, respectively) have cloned the AVM (minus his animal and mineral components).

  4. Actually, I think the main villain in this would be El Seed (from the animated Tick series).

  5. Please make a Bondsmen vs. Hellraiser & The Cenobites!

  6. I think it'd be cool to see a Green Hornet and Crimson Avenger team up. Those two are already very similar, after all.

  7. Interesting cover, Ross; and seeing that it's an adaptation of a House of Mystery cover gave me an idea:

How about the Scooby-Doo gang (officially named "Mystery, Inc.") visiting the House of Mystery?

  8. Ben in his early, early days would have made an interesting pairing with the JSA Hawks! You get some great ideas Ross!

    1. You mean, the Golden Age Blackhawks?

  9. Momentary digression: Jim Henson, founding father of the Muppets, would've been 88 today. That being said, I wonder if Kermit and Company will ever meet Doll Man or the Inferior Five?

    1. You were still talking about the high-flying husband-and-wife? My bad! I thought you were suggesting a sequel set during World War II. Ben, as a still-human aviator, would have most definitely fit in with the Blackhawks, back then!
