Poison Ivy is a great Batman villain, and I'm not crazy when writers try to redeem her or present her as some kind of anti-hero. I've seen her murder too many poeple to want have to root for her now. This seems to be a pattern with Batman's female adversaries - Catwoman, Talia, Harley Quinn... as soon as they start to get really popular, their bad sides are softened and they become more close to allies. Next thing you know, Nocturna and Magpie are gonna be given keys to the Bat-Cave!
😅
ReplyDeleteIf Ivy is a scratch player, that's vine with me! Despite all the times she has been portrayed on screen she has never been a "square" root of evil, even when working with Mr Freeze. She's "Harley" a future reformed partner to be, but that will be up to future righters!
ReplyDeleteI fully agree with you, Ross. I mean, the next thing you know, she'll be an honorary member of the GOTG and chanting "I am MRS. Groot!"
ReplyDeleteI was going to use a different pun. But, I thought maybe I should let Bob Greenwade have the honor of suggesting the obvious title for a sequel involving a PI/GOTG clash.
"...have to root for her now."
ReplyDeleteHa ha ha
I kind of think of Poison Ivy as an anti-villain -- basically, an eco-terrorist, with laudable goals tainted by a thirst for violence and control. Go ahead and let her have sympathetic traits, but she's still basically a "bad guy" (I put Mister Freeze in the same category).
ReplyDelete@Cary: Maybe it's just too early in the day, but all I can come up with is "Ivy League."
Comment for Ross - delete after reading.
ReplyDeleteSaw a typo: "This teems to be a pattern..."
I assume you meant: "This seems to be a pattern..."
(Sorry - former copy editor in a previous life...)
(Oooh, looking at Sasquatch, I just realized he'd be a great visual pairing against Clayface!)

@Bob: I was thinking more like "Groot Of All Evil."
ReplyDeleteBut, perhaps, you have better taste in puns than I do. ;-)
OK; now you HAVE to do Poison Ivy vs Guardians of the Galaxy here she tries to control Groot!
ReplyDeleteJared: see STF #2714 https://braveandboldlost.blogspot.com/2019/09/batman-and-groot.html
ReplyDelete@Cary: Ah, OK. It's not quite as obvious as you thought, it seems.
ReplyDeleteConsidering what happened recently in the Harley Quinn show...
ReplyDelete... Poor Dick...
Another great cover. Superb job!
ReplyDelete@BG: And "Ivy League" was already used back in STF #2714.
ReplyDelete@Bob and Cary: tie score, gentlemen. Retire to neutral corners for the rest of the night!
ReplyDelete@Anon@12:58: Are you kidding me? Cary won that round, hands down.
