There have been some rumors that Bill Skarsgaard is up for the role of Alec Holland/Swamp Thing in the new DCU movies. I'm only familiar with his work in the It movies, but he was pretty good in those. We'll see if we get any official announcements regarding casting soon.
Doctor Strange and Swamp Thing were last together facing demons in STF #941 and first met in STF #227...
A truly scary-looking cover, Ross. It makes me wonder what you might have planned for STF #4200! After all, that will be coming on October 13th...a Friday.
ReplyDeleteMe? I'm hoping for Lord Pumpkin vs. The Nocturnals. :-)
Sorry, but my first reaction was CH-ch-chia...AND What a door knocker!! Young Frankenstein would be greeting you at the door.
ReplyDeleteRoss, the biggest difference between Marvel and DC?? Marvel has had execs that cared about the characters.....DC has had ego in the forms of new company execs that wanted to put their mark on the projects being done. DC had such potentials.
I'm with Cary on this. It's frightening on first glance, and frightening when I think about what the cover implies. I'd definitely buy this off the newsstand, at least back in the 70s/early 80s.
ReplyDeleteCary also raises a fun point about #4200 being on October, Friday the 13th -- which happens to be the traditional release for Friday the 13th movies. A cover featuring Jason Voorhees in the main story, with other horror-movie villains (like Freddy Krueger, Pennywise, Michael Myers, Leatherface, etc.) in the secondary tales, would be just the thing. Jason vs. Casey Jones would be a fun visual (though for this purpose Batman might be a better choice), and I'd love to see what Dr. Strange would do about Pennywise.
I hope Dr Strange brought a salad fork!
ReplyDeleteMaybe Thor can let Strange borrow Toothgrinder and Toothgnasher for awhile? That way he can avoid using any toxic herbicides. Then Swampy would still have a chance retreat to Central Park and lay low for awhile. Maybe. I'm sure the city will write Strange up for code violations if this isn't resolved soon. Perhaps it's the smoke coming from wildfires up in Canada that are driving Swamp Thing mad.
ReplyDelete@Bob Greenwade: I'd settle for a movie poster pitting Batman against Ghostface!
ReplyDeleteLeatherface and Taserface would be interesting, not just for for name synchronicity; the visual and potential story would both be mind-bending as well.
