Iron Man and Starman in "Space Siege!"

Now that I put these two together, I wonder what took me so long, their color schemes match perfectly.  Of course, Iron Man may only just now be encountering Prince Gavyn, but earlier in his career (and on this blog), but he has met the Ted Knight version on three occasions - They battled each other in STF #3240, They joined Black Widow and Black Canary in STF #2491 and first appeared together in STF #2190...

  1. Tell me it wasn't Skrulls. (Can a Skrull copy a Space Phantom?)

Loved your commentary on the two "bookends".

Think Marvel will ret-con Namor in appearance the way dc made Barry Allen a non blonde to fit with the tv show?

  2. @Det. Tobor: Based on the trailers I've seen of WAKANDA FOREVER, they already have. Giving him a Mayan chieftain look!

  3. P.S.---maybe the spaceship was carrying xenomorphic Broodlings. And maybe it's not really Iron Man who destroyed them. Maybe it was a holographically disguised...Rog 2000!*

*He's the only robot I know with hoof-like boots like those.

Wow! That's a blast from the prehistoric past. I honestly can't recall seeing more than one or two stories featuring John Byrne's first brainchild. As back-up stories in Charlton's E-man comic.

  5. I have only a peripheral recall of this version of Starman -- I think I saw him on comic covers, but mostly I remember Ted Knight, and later Sylvester Pempleton. Prince Gavyn looks like he'd do well teamed with Mar-Vell.

On another topic, with Veterans Day coming up, maybe we could get a team-up of a few notable veterans -- say, Nick Fury and Captain Atom?

Also, for some reason I'm wanting to see Nocturne teamed with Superboy (Connor Kent).

@Cary: I think Tobor was referring to changing the look in the comics to match the live-action version.

  6. @Bob Greenwade: which Nocturne? Talia Wagner; the daughter of an altverse Nightcrawler and Scarlet Witch? Or that bat-winged anti-heroine from about fifteen or twenty years back?*

*She was part of the same summer-long promotion that introduced Annex and other then-brand-new heroes...complete with explanatory trading cards.

  7. @Cary: I remember that promotional campaign! And I think that that Nocturne's real-name was Angela Cairn. An NYPD policewoman who got captured by Baron Helmut Zemo (creator of Vermin) and experimented on by same.

  8. This was my Starman. I remember getting Adventure Comics and reading his adventures. He shared the book with Plastic Man and Aquaman. I liked this look but in DC Comics Presents I saw his blue uniform for the first time and liked it also. I also liked the Will Payton Starman but I did not like that the Prince basically disappeared to become Will Payton.

  9. @Cary: Talia "TJ" Wagner, of the Exiles, who overtook Monica Rambeau as my favorite Marvel character. (And who I've also wanted to see teamed with fellow stroke survivor Wesley Dodds.)

  10. I don't know about Cary. But, I'd be willing to second that motion. Provided, of course, there were a special guest-appearance by Sleepwalker. After all; he and Sandman haven't teamed up since STF #1779 (five years ago)!

  11. Motion has been seconded...and subsequently Cary'd.
