Luke Skywalker and Buck Rogers

The Disney+ Star Wars related shows my not be perfect, but I find them enjoyable to watch for the most part.  One thing that I am grateful for is that we finally get some respect for Luke Skywalker.  I hated what was done with the character in the final trilogy, and his appearances in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett have presented him in a much better light.

Buck and the Doctor, I can understand. They both have had interactions with aliens called Draconians. Connecting either one of them to Luke, though, is a little more problematic. Maybe a marriage of state between Princess Ardala...and Emperor Palpatine?

  2. As to the Final Trilogy? I thought the writers did a great job with Luke! They showed him as being just as fallible as the Old Republic Jedi. But, refreshingly, far more willing to admit it!

Not so much Yoda, who was still as dogmatic as he ever was, despite his twenty year-long exile on Dagobah.

    1. That wasn't a version of Luke anyone wanted to see.

  3. @Ross: Didn't Gil Gerard used to be maried to Connie Selleca? Maybe you could use that connection to do a "publicity photo" of Buck Rogers teaming up with the Greatest American Hero!

  4. I'm a little less enthusiastic than Cary about how Luke was handled in the sequel trilogy, but I'm still positive about it, and for the same reasons. Even so, one of the advantages of television over movies is that the creators have time to really get into the minds and souls of the characters, so we may get to see more of what happened with Luke and how it affected him in the moment.

  5. I'm watching the Queen being taken to her final rest. Gallifrey was put to rest, we're still learning about "the Fugitive Doctor", and a Buck doesn't go anywhere near as far as it used to. Space Opera at it's most famous level.
More like a " One Wave Trip" to Gallifrey.

  6. Hmm... Now I'd like to see more of Buck's family history with Steve Rogers/ Captain America.

  7. All I'm saying is that if you need anyone to infiltrate a space disco, Gil Gerard's Buck Rogers is your man.

  8. @Anon1035: maybe not. But, he couldn't go back to the wide-eyed naive farm boy from Tattooine, either.
